Isn’t it strange how some of the same people who don’t see the right to bear arms in the Constitution do see a right to health care?

President Obama escaped beltway politics by a mile or so today to deliver an address lauding the coming of Obamacare and the “right” contained therein:

Traveling to Prince George’s Community College just outside the Capital Beltway, Obama made a moral argument, as well as an economic one, for legislation that will help define his domestic record for history. He said health insurance is now a “right” in the United States, not a benefit available only to those who can afford it.

“In the wealthiest nation on Earth, no one should go broke just because they get sick,” Obama told a friendly audience at the college in Largo. “In the United States, health care is not a privilege for the fortunate few, it is a right.”

How many “rights” have to be mandated? For example, we have the “right” to free speech, but if a law were passed mandating we must speak or face a penalty, it ceases to be a right and comes to resemble something more like tyranny. It’s a shame so many can’t or won’t tell the difference.

There was also this:

For many who liked their health care plan, they don’t have to do anything as a result of Obamacare… except try and find new plans.

Update:

Here’s video of the part of the speech where Obama said “health care is a right”:

If Obamacare isn’t allowed to be implemented it will burden businesses and families? Is it “opposite day” or something?
