Glitch-fest 2013 got under way this morning.
According to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius it was a positive sign of things to come:
ANDREA MITCHELL: […] And [the president said] “there have been glitches but Apple has glitches.” What is your response to the Republicans and other critics that say it’s not going to work and there are too many problems and it needs to be fixed, delayed until it’s fixed?
KATHLEEN: SEBELIUS: […] So we have had a few slowdowns, a few glitches, but it’s sort of a great problem to have. It’s based on the fact that the volume has been so high and the interest is so high. We’re working quickly to fix that.
Is “it’s a great problem to have” going to be her answer to people who will end up waiting forever to see a doctor?
Here’s the ridiculous Apple comparison from Obama’s address today:
And we’re going to be speeding things up in the next few hours to handle all of this demand that exceeds anything that we had expected. Consider that just a couple of weeks ago, Apple rolled out a new mobile operating system, and within days, they found a glitch, so they fixed it. I don’t remember anybody suggesting Apple should stop selling iPhones or iPads or threatening to shut down the company if they didn’t. That’s not how we do things in America. We don’t actively root for failure. We get to work, we make things happen, we make them better, we keep going.
If the Obama administration helped start Apple they would have gone bankrupt before getting out of Steve Jobs’ garage, blamed his parents for the failure and then lobbied the Carter administration to make the purchase of malfunctioning computers the size of Buick LeSabres mandatory.
Also, there’s this excellent but brief explanation: Three reasons Obamacare is not Apple.
