Even though much of the federal government has been shut down, the White House has not yet barricaded access to President Obama’s sense of unintentional humor.

From a CNBC interview broadcast yesterday:

“It’s fair to say that, during the course of my presidency, I have bent over backwards to work with the Republican Party, and have purposefully kept my rhetoric down.”

Maybe he’s confusing the GOP with Putin, Medvedev and Rouhani.

Over the course of his presidency, Obama has demonstrated a willingness to bend over backwards to work with the Republicans?

From 2009’s “I won”:

To 2011’s “where Congress won’t act, I will”:

To today’s “I won’t negotiate”:

This administration’s flexibility has been outmatched only by its transparency.
