Sebelius: No idea how many have enrolled in Obamacare, but it’s going really well

At last, the Obamacare circus makes an appearance at a fitting venue: Comedy Central.

From The Hill:

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Monday night that she did not know how many people have signed up for President Obama’s healthcare law since its insurance exchanges went live last week.

“How many have signed up thus far?” host Jon Stewart asked on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.”
“Fully enrolled, I can’t tell you. I don’t know,” Sebelius said. “We’ve been taking applications on the Web, on the phone, but I can tell you not only lots of Web hits, hundreds of thousands of accounts created.”

Rhetorical question: If you ran a policy push for a private firm and went into a meeting and claimed to know how many accounts were created but not how many of those went through the full enrollment process, how quickly would your fired self be offered a job in the Obama administration?

Yesterday, the HHS blog posted three Obamacare “success stories.” Read carefully and you’ll see that none of the three have even enrolled yet. Maybe it’s wise of the administration to recognize that if the three do intend to enroll, their best days will have been behind them, so it’s best to consider them “success stories” now.

Jay Carney took a similar approach, citing precise website traffic numbers but no enrollment figures. He knows three Hilary Rosens but can’t name one Obamacare enrollee?
