Here’s President Obama late last month speaking of how easy it would be to sign up for insurance:

“Now, this is real simple,” he told an audience in Largo, Md. “It’s a website where you can compare and purchase affordable health insurance plans, side-by-side, the same way you shop for a plane ticket on Kayak — (laughter) — same way you shop for a TV on Amazon,” he said, according to the official White House transcript.

This week, in a video attached to an Organizing for Action fundraising email (yes, they’re actually asking for donations to fight back against those with the audacity to point out their own disaster), Obama said this:

“Remember, nobody ever expected this would be easy — change never is… [but] I’m absolutely confident that we will finish the job of making health care in the country not just a privilege for a fortunate few, but a right for all Americans to enjoy,” he insisted.

From “it’s simple” to “change is never easy” in a matter of days.

Kathleen Sebelius was apparently stunned that anybody tried to access the site, because she put it this way:

“We anticipated at the outset that everyone would never use the website.”

And it shows.

I think Sebelius was trying to say they didn’t anticipate as many website visitors as they got, which must be why her boss initially compared it to other lower-traffic sites such as Amazon-dot-freakin’-com!

Fortunately the HealthCare.gov online chat help room is now available to assist those with problems:

Update:

At today’s briefing, Jay Carney offered a prison analogy:
