Chris Matthews will pick up where Barbara Walters left off in an interview that is sure to be sponsored by eHarmony.

From Politico:

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews will interview President Barack Obama this Thursday, the network announced Tuesday.

The interview is part of Matthews’ “Hardball College Tour,” and will take place at American University in Washington, D.C.

According to a news release from MSNBC, Matthews, along with university students, will “discuss a variety of topics with the president including voter suppression, healthcare, the decline of confidence in the government and the overall political dysfunction in Washington.”

Matthews is extra-excited these days because the head of the Farm Neck Golf Club called today to inform him that he’s on the celebrity short list to be chosen as the president’s honorary ball washer during next summer’s vacation on the Vineyard.

Here’s a sneak peak at a portion of the Obama/Matthews interview:

“Mr. President, I have to ask you, on a scale of one to ten, can you rate how awesome a thrill is this for me?”

null
“Well, Chris, I’d have to say about a 9.8. You’ve got to be excited for several reasons.”

null
“OMG, that’s exactly right! But I’d have to say more of a 10.5. Anyway, how exactly did the Republicans manage to destroy the functionality of HealthCare.gov?”

null
“As I’ve said before, the site’s functionality is an issue of… Chris? Chris?

null
“Mmm hmmm… go on… I’m listening…”

Meanwhile, Matthews might have to tell a fellow cable net host to “step off,” because CNN’s Piers Morgan has referred to Obama as the “perfect physical specimen.” Uh oh, watch out, Piers — Tingle Smash!
