Three days ago, the Dallas Morning News ran a story written by political reporter Wayne Slater which pointed out that Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis has “blurred” key facts in her often repeated life story by claiming to be part Cherokee Indi… wait, wrong story. Sorry.

This is the correct one:

The basic elements of the narrative are true, but the full story of Davis’ life is more complicated, as often happens when public figures aim to define themselves. In the shorthand version that has developed, some facts have been blurred.

Davis was 21, not 19, when she was divorced. She lived only a few months in the family mobile home while separated from her husband before moving into an apartment with her daughter.

A single mother working two jobs, she met Jeff Davis, a lawyer 13 years older than her, married him and had a second daughter. He paid for her last two years at Texas Christian University and her time at Harvard Law School, and kept their two daughters while she was in Boston. When they divorced in 2005, he was granted parental custody, and the girls stayed with him. Wendy Davis was directed to pay child support.

Slater, who is not exactly a card-carrying conservative (I have a feeling that if Davis were a Republican, “blurred facts” may have become “lies”), said that while working on the story he had no contact with anybody from the campaign of Davis’ opponent Greg Abbott.

With all that in mind, Davis defended herself yesterday by calling the story an attack emanating from the Abbott campaign and a “new low”:

A left-leaning reporter exposed discrepancies in her life story with no input from her opponent. Dirty trick, Greg Abbott!

Davis can count on the lefty media helping her out though. This one’s from MSNBC:

null

Breaking news: Conservatives also oppose Davis on ideological grounds! Nothing gets past MSNBC.

Update:

Check out Jim Treacher’s many examples of the lengths the MSM is going to avoid using the word “lie.”
