“It’s. The. Law.” Don’t forget that! Unless more unilateral changes to “the law” are necessary to avoid disastrous consequences at the polls.

Via the Washington Post, the White House continues sound worse than little kids making up the rules to a game on the fly … an incompetent, economy crushing, insurance canceling, future generation bankrupting, nation-crippling game:

For the second time in a year, the Obama administration is giving certain employers extra time before they must offer health insurance to almost all their full-time workers.

Under new rules announced Monday by Treasury Department officials, employers with 50 to 99 workers will be given until 2016 — two years longer than originally envisioned under the Affordable Care Act — before they risk a federal penalty for not complying.

Companies with 100 workers or more are getting a different kind of one-year grace period. Instead of being required in 2015 to offer coverage to 95 percent of full-time workers, these bigger employers can avoid a fine by offering insurance to 70 percent of them next year.

Shorter version: “Employers with 110 employees have to figure out a way to offer “freedom, Chuck Schumer-style” to 11 workers to avoid the “penalty” which may or may not ever kick in.”

What’s the White House’s legal justification for arbitrarily changing a law passed by Congress? Here’s a clue: “That’s the good thing about being president; I can do whatever I want”:

President Obama said that Monday at Monticello. The background noise you heard weren’t clicking cameras — it was the sound of Jefferson rolling over in his grave.
