Imagine the MSM headlines if Condi Rice were on the Left

Condoleezza Rice has decided not to deliver the commencement speech at Rutgers (or maybe “forced to back out” is a better way to put it) after some students and faculty protested her support for the Iraq war:

Rice said in a statement Saturday that she informed Rutgers President Robert Barchi that she was declining the invitation.

“Commencement should be a time of joyous celebration for the graduates and their families,” Rice said. “Rutgers’ invitation to me to speak has become a distraction for the university community at this very special time.”

The school’s board of governors had voted to pay the former secretary of state under President George W. Bush and national security adviser $35,000 for her appearance at the May 18 ceremony.

But some students and faculty had protested, staging sit-ins and saying Rice bore some responsibility for the Iraq War as a member of the Bush administration.

It’s a good thing Rice is a Republican and not a Democrat or today we’d be seeing a dozen headlines like “Faction of right-wing extremists force cancellation of speech by accomplished woman of color” and “War on Women, racism, intolerance alive and well at Rutgers.”

Also, if Rice hailed from the Left, the collective MSM might have taken offense to pictures like these:

“Outrage platoon, stand down — she’s a Republican!”

Rutgers should invite Hillary Clinton as a replacement for Rice. Hillary supported the Iraq war too but campus libs didn’t seem to make to big of a deal about it when she stopped by to deliver a speech in 2007.
