House Republicans are staging a daring attempt to derail noted nutritionist Michelle Obama’s school lunch agenda. The first lady deemed the GOP effort “unacceptable” on Tuesday.

Coming to Michelle Obama’s defense was CNN anchor Carol Costello, who thinks the first lady has more power than she actually does:

While discussing Michelle Obama’s 2010 health initiative, Costello said that the First Lady Michelle Obama “signed the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act into law.”

Newsbusters was first to catch the gaffe and quickly pointed out the First Lady has no such power.

In addition to being an expert in how the government works, Costello is also apparently a climate scientist. The accuracy of her opinion on both topics should be taken with the same grain of salt.

If CNN wants to impart a U.S. government civics lesson on the masses, they should just show old “Schoolhouse Rock” episodes and probably get a ratings boost in the process.
