This media mindset is why the IRS scandal isn’t ‘mainstream’ news

Chuck Todd of NBC News rapidly summed up why the IRS story is often laughed off in MSM newsrooms: No victim, no crime:

So while the IRS is certainly not a good guy here they have been terrible about being forthcoming. Are there any actual real victims? Folks, this scandal is not black and white since frankly two wrongs don’t make a right. We know what really is working here for Republicans. Beating up the IRS, good for the base. Good politics there makes for great fundraising e-mails. But let’s remember what the controversy itself is about.

Read the full quote here. Todd bases his “no victims here” statement on the law as he envisions it should be, not as it exists — which demonstrates that he’s more qualified to work in Lois Lerner’s old department at the IRS than as a “journalist,” because that mindset is what fueled this entire “phony scandal.”

But Todd can take comfort in the fact that House Dems are defending the helpless little agency.

Shorter version: “Let’s face it, they kind of had it coming.”

Oddly enough, some of the MSM libs who are writing off the IRS scandal as an isolated, benign incident and ignoring it are some of the same people who have MLK’s quote “an injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” framed over the water cooler.

Also:

–Lois Lerner wanted to refer Sen. Chuck Grassley (or the group that invited him) for an audit of something that never even happened. That “pleading the Fifth” thing is starting to make even more sense.

–The EPA has also “lost” some emails.

Following the law is for the private sector little people.
