Before reading on, cue up the appropriate soundtrack:

Rep. Jan Schakowsky is “living the wage” this week, meaning that supposedly she’s confining her food budget to what somebody making minimum wage would be eating.

Here’s this week’s menu:

Still way better than a FLOTUS-mandated school lunch, right? Personally I’d heavy up on the hot dogs a little more but otherwise, not bad.

Other members of Congress are faux sacrificing this week as well:

Are they also giving up satellite television and their congressional perks this week?

This is classic: Dems are “justifying” the need to increase the minimum wage by pointing out how much more expensive the basics are since the dawn of the age of Obama:

From “Hope & Change” to “soup line sympathy we can believe in” just a few years later.

But just to prove #LiveTheWage is a bipartisan effort, Michelle’s also down with the sacrifice. You’re not alone, Rep. Schakowsky!
