Maybe these guys just took an extended weekend to go kitesurfing with John Kerry:

Police and military officials were searching Sunday for three soldiers from the Afghanistan National Army who went missing during a training exercise at a Cape Cod military base.

The Afghan soldiers had been participating in a U.S. Central Command Regional Cooperation training exercise at Joint Base Cape Cod, U.S. military officials said. They arrived at Camp Edwards on Sept. 11 and were last seen at the Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis.

The soldiers were reporting missing by base security personnel on Saturday night. They were identified as Major Jan Mohammad Arash, Captain Mohammad Nasir Askarzada and Captain Noorullah Aminyar.

Fear not though, because the U.S. government says the men were “fully vetted” before being brought to the country, so maybe they just decided to go to the climate march or are still stuck in a line for the iPhone 6.

From NBC:

Something similar happened recently in D.C.:

Just last weekend, two Afghan policemen in the Washington, D.C., for a DEA training program at Quantico, Va., also went missing while on a sightseeing trip to Georgetown.

The two men, who were part of a group of 31 Afghan police officers in the U.S. for the multi-week program, were found safe somewhere outside of D.C., but officials would not say exactly where, ABC affiliate WJLA-TV reported.

According to WJLA-TV, the DEA said the two men left the group because they did not want to go back to Afghanistan.

If the government is “fullt vetting” these guys they’re skipping the part that estimates their odds of going AWOL once in the U.S.

Update:

What were they hoping to do in Canada?

Update II:

A few days ago, two Afghan police officers training in the U.S. also disappeared. They too were found in — you guessed it — Buffalo. Just happy little coincidences?
