New impenetrable layer of fence added around White House

Following another White House fence-jumping incident where a man made it all the way inside the White House, additional measures have been taken:

In the wake of Friday’s fence-jumping incident, the White House is stepping up security with one of the most basic defenses in its toolkit: a second, shorter fence in front of the existing one.

The new portable fence is about waist high and appears to be linked together with plastic ties.

Not exactly the Maginot Line, but I guess something had to be done:

I’d have bound them together with duct tape instead of zip ties, but admittedly I’m no security expert.

Those same fences couldn’t keep veterans out of monuments during the shutdown, but hopefully they do the trick this time.
