Did You Know...

Will Jonathan Gruber return $400k in fees to ‘stupid’ voters now that a third video has surfaced?

A couple of days ago, we talked about a video from last year that showed Obama adviser and “Low Information Voter Czar” Jonathan Gruber admitting that lack of transparency was necessary to sell Obamacare to “stupid” American voters. Gruber this week said that one instance was a mistake as he was speaking “off the cuff” and didn’t really mean it.

And then this second video came to light of Gruber saying something similar:

But wait, there’s more!

A third video has been found:

“It’s a very clever, you know, basic exploitation of the lack of economic understanding of the American voter,” Gruber, an economist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said during a speech at the University of Rhode Island in November 2012.

Video here.

Imagine how fast the DOJ would be issuing subpoenas if a corporate CEO was caught on tape multiple times describing such deception.

To top it off, Gruber was paid about $400,000 for these efforts:

Gruber has been a go-to voice for reporters seeking a respected academic view on health care reform costs — and as far as I can tell, few if any knew that in March he was awarded a $95,000 contract with HHS and in June a $297,600 contract with HHS for providing “Technical Assistance in Evaluating Options for National Healthcare Reform.”

A White House spokesperson said of Gruber’s statements, “not only do we disagree with those comments, they’re simply not true.”

So that means the White House will demand that Gruber return to taxpayers all the money he was paid, right? RIGHT!? The crickets are deafening.

I almost forgot… Gruber apparently has a new book out that I thought I’d help him plug:

NYT bestseller list, here he comes!
