Shep Smith ponders possibility that the US might ‘ruin’ Cuba

If the Fox News gig doesn’t work out, Shep Smith’s comments yesterday about President Obama’s move to re-establish diplomatic relations with Cuba would move his resume to the top of the prospect pile at MSNBC’s HR department:

“You know, the fear among anybody who has ever been there or cares at all about the Cuban people, as so many of us do, the last thing they need is a Taco Bell and a Lowe’s,” Smith said, referring to reports U.S. businesses are planning to make a concerted effort to break into the Cuban market.

“You know, it’s one big idea and it all sorta comes together and you wonder: Are we about to get up in there and ruin that place?” he asked.

As if a political prisoner at Villa Marista is going to one day look through the bars at the outside world and say “They’re opening a McDonalds next door? There goes the view!”

Or, by saying US relations could “ruin” Cuba, is Shep simply worried that he might have to pay full price for a bottle of Havana Club on his next visit? You be the judge:

Shortly after this video was shot, the “Shep Smith” body suit unzipped and a laughing Michael Moore emerged.
