Looks like Baltimore already received a significant ‘urban investment’

President Obama last week addressed rioting in Baltimore by calling on Republicans in Congress to apply the cure-all elixir prescribed by proponents of bloated government: Throw more money at the problem:

A frustrated President Barack Obama challenged the nation to do “some soul-searching” after riots in Baltimore followed the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray in police custody. There have been other deadly altercations between police and black men or boys in Ferguson, New York’s Staten Island, Cleveland and North Charleston, South Carolina.

“I’m under no illusion that out of this Congress we’re going to get massive investments in urban communities,” Obama said. “But if we really want to solve the problem, if our society really wanted to solve the problem, we could.”

If throwing massive amounts of federal money at cities “solves the problem,” Baltimore should have been set for a while:

The city of Baltimore received over $1.8 billion from President Barack Obama’s stimulus law, including $467.1 million to invest in education and $26.5 million for crime prevention.
[…]
The projects included $26.5 million from the Justice Department (DOJ) to combat gang activity and provide community support for at-risk juveniles.

Maybe “Sheriff Joe Biden” can track down how every dollar of that was spent and justify why throwing more money on the pile is the solution to the problem. What’s really needed isn’t “massive investment” by government, but divestment of catastrophic progressive policies in cities — and the odds are better that Hillary turns her email server over to Trey Gowdy than of that happening any time soon.
