Donald Trump announced today that he’s running for president (I think as a Republican, but based on his past donations you can’t be too sure):

Trump made the announcement to a rally of cheering supporters gathered at Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue Tuesday morning.

“I am officially running for president of the United States and we are going to make our country great again,” he told the crowd, with many holding signs saying “I Believe In Trump!”

Before the big announcement, the businessman and reality television star was introduced by his daughter Ivanka and came down an escalator with his wife Melania to the song “Rockin’ In The Free World” by Neil Young.

In his speech to supporters, Trump took on China, immigration, Obamacare and the economy, saying, “I will be the greatest jobs president God ever created.”

Trump’s speech wasn’t devoid of humor. He had some pretty good one-liners, such as this one:

“Our country is in serious trouble. We don’t have victories any more,” Trump said. “When did we beat Japan at anything?”

Trump will finish the job that Truman couldn’t!

According to Trump, Trump is now the Republican front-runner. And for all I know he’s not wrong. He does have certain advantages already:

Below is Trump’s entire announcement. The good news for The Donald is that if this GOP run doesn’t work out, his $100,000 donation to the Clinton Foundation automatically qualifies him for inclusion on Hillary’s VP short list:

At least it’s refreshing to see any “candidate” bragging about being rich instead of apologizing for it and/or pretending to be one of the few “good” rich people because they didn’t pull up the ladder after they got to the top (::cough:: “HILLARY” ::cough::).
