Obama advises Kenya about ending gov’t corruption; Seattle experiencing ‘living wage’ awakening (a Sunday open thread)

Who’s up for another Sunday open thread? There’s lots going on but summer won’t last forever, so I’ll rattle off a few items for possible discussion and then go join the family by the pool.

Seattle’s $15 minimum wage was celebrated by Nancy Pelosi and many others, but there’s a possible glitch in progressive Shangri-La.

Seattle’s $15 minimum wage law is supposed to lift workers out of poverty and move them off public assistance. But there may be a hitch in the plan.

Evidence is surfacing that some workers are asking their bosses for fewer hours as their wages rise – in a bid to keep overall income down so they don’t lose public subsidies for things like food, child care and rent.

The city’s financial problems will be over if they can figure out a way to tax irony.

The wind-up:

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Saturday said she did not send classified emails from her private server while she was secretary of state.

And the pitch:

Government investigators said Friday that they had discovered classified information on the private email account that Hillary Rodham Clinton used while secretary of state, stating unequivocally that those secrets never should have been stored outside of secure government computer systems.

Here’s Hillary performing a visual interpretation of what’s happening to her email claims:

Moments after this photo was taken and Hillary had walked away, one of the kids said “hey, anybody seen the cash box?”

California Attorney General Kamala Harris was so horrified by the video showing Planned Parenthood staffers discussing the harvesting and sale of baby parts that she’s going to conduct a review of… the group that made the video. Liberals do have their priorities.

Speaking of California, sanctuary city San Francisco has been forced to try a urine-repellent paint in public areas (read about it in the forthcoming book “SF: The Stench of ‘Progress'”):

The city’s Public Works agency is testing a pee-repellant paint on walls in areas that have been saturated with urine. Anyone urinating on the specially treated walls will get the spray splashed back onto them.

They totally stole the “paint that fights back” idea from The Naked Gun:

I saved the funniest for last…

Yesterday in Kenya, President Obama advised that country’s leaders to look to this U.S. example when it comes to putting an end to government corruption:

Kenyatta’s administration earlier this year declared an “unwavering war against corruption” and Obama said he believes the Kenyan president is “serious about going after this.” Obama commiserated, noting it’s been tackled in the U.S, including his hometown of Chicago which had “Al Capone, boot leggers, bribery and police on the take.”

Oh, OK:

Always leave ’em laughing.
