It’s a bloated bureaucracy miracle! Head of EPA says Mother Gaia has cleaned up their Animas River mess

If you’re currently enjoying your beverage of choice this Friday afternoon, it might be best to put it down before proceeding, lest the ensuing “spit take” ruins your computer or furniture.

Ready? Good:

A river that turned a troubling shade of orange after toxic waste was accidentally released into it a week ago is “restoring itself,” the country’s top environmental official said Thursday.

Speaking at the Animas River in Farmington, New Mexico, on Thursday, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy told reporters that the water quality has returned to “pre-incident conditions” after toxic sludge from an abandoned gold mine upstream in southern Colorado flowed into it.

“The very good news is that we see that this river is restoring itself,” McCarthy said.

Funny, Gina. Really funny:

So they’ve gone from “the planet is helpless against the filthy ravages of greedy mankind” to “the river has cleansed the EPA’s f**k up!” I guess nature only agrees to clean up after careless, hypocritical, unaccountable regulators.

We should at least thank the EPA chief for pointing out that her agency is no longer necessary.
