You might have thought that with all the memos, emails and phone calls flying back and forth among those who were trying to sell Congress and the American public on the Iran deal that somebody at the top would have made an important point to fellow supporters: “When pitching the deal, never, ever say anything that remotely sounds like Neville Chamberlain at Munich. EVER!

But that kind of warning obviously was either never issued or not heeded, as Florida Dem Rep. Patrick Murphy demonstrated:

“I believe deeply in the unbreakable bond between the United States and Israel. This debate has proven to me that America and Israel are fortunate to have so many passionate, diverse voices who all want the same things: a nuclear-free Iran, a secure Israel, and peace in our time. In the interest of all three, I will be supporting this deal and voting against a Resolution of Disapproval in September.”

“Peace in our time” might as well say “hold my beer, I wanna try something…”
