Need a last-minute Halloween costume idea? The Dept. of Energy has you (almost) covered

The U.S. Department of Energy has published “5 energy costumes you can make at home.” It includes a drawing of the costume along with a list of items you’ll need to put it together.

For example, the DOE gives instructions on how to be a solar panel (no, seriously):

The DOE suggests you have somebody else with you disguised as the sun, but it would be much more realistic if you were accompanied by two people — one dressed as a bankruptcy attorney, and the other as a fleeced taxpayer.

Another costume option: Wind turbine:

The warning label on this costume reads “Not allowed to be worn near anyplace the Kennedy family gathers.”

Other suggested costume ideas are Ernest Moniz, “Energy Vampire” and “Particle Accelerator.”

We actually pay people to come up with that crap? The national debt now makes more sense than ever.
