Today President Obama announced executive orders he’s issuing about guns, none of which he claims violate the 2nd Amendment. Take the word of the man who guaranteed “if you like your plan you can keep it” at your own peril.
Obama announced redundancies to existing laws and other new executive actions that he admitted probably won’t do anything to stop mass shootings, but it’s “something,” as the Democrats like to say:
Mr. Obama will clarify that existing laws require anyone making a living by selling guns to register as a licensed gun dealer and conduct background checks. White House officials said the president would note that criminal penalties already exist for violating those laws.
“We have to be very clear that this is not going to solve every violent crime in this country,” Mr. Obama said on Monday, ahead of a formal announcement on Tuesday. “It’s not going to prevent every mass shooting; it’s not going to keep every gun out of the hands of a criminal.”
Mr. Obama will hire more personnel to process background checks in a timely manner, direct officials to conduct more gun research, improve the information in the background check system, encourage more domestic violence prosecutions and order better tracking of lost guns. He will also make it easier for states to provide mental health information to the background check system, which could bar a gun sale.
But officials said it was impossible to predict whether the new directives would have made any difference in recent shootings, such as the one in San Bernardino, Calif.
And by people who “make a living” selling guns, that could be just one or two guns per year:
Jarret then said that selling as few as “two firearms” could require somebody to obtain a federal firearms license. However, later in the call, Attorney General Lynch revised that number down further. “It can be as few as one or two depending upon the circumstances under which the person sells the gun,” Lynch said.
The federal firearms license application process takes several months to complete and costs a significant amount of money, according to the ATF website.
If you’re “making a living” selling two guns, those two guns must be George Washington’s saddle pistols.
Here’s an instant classic from Obama’s speech:
"We're also expanding background checks on criminals looking to purchase some of the most lethal weapons out there." smh

As opposed to those non-lethal guns some criminals try to purchase? The president also lied about online gun purchases, but that’s no surprise.
Obama also called on voters to stop re-electing members of Congress who “block laws” on guns. Laws of course aren’t “blocked” by Congress because that’s where they’re created, but in Obama’s constitutional law class, questions about Schoolhouse Rock were not on the final exam.
Obama’s law specialty seems to have more to do with the one about unintended consequences. Gun control advocates are applauding Obama, but it seems if they really wanted fewer guns out there they’d ask him to stop talking:

How many firearms flew off the shelves during this announcement from the Gun salesman of the century?

By the way, Obama discussed all his executive actions with Loretta Lynch. Because when you think “useful gun safety ideas,” you think “Obama’s Justice Department.”
