Yesterday Ahmad Rahami was captured alive, but just coincidentally his wife decided to go on vacation shortly before the bombings in New Jersey and Manhattan:
Rahami’s wife left the United States a few days before this weekend’s bombings, and US officials want to speak with her, a law enforcement official said on condition of anonymity.
The official didn’t provide details about her travels but said authorities are working with officials in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates to gain access to her.
Where have we heard that before?
Also, anybody want to tip off the FBI as to why Ahmad Rahami might have traveled to Afghanistan? Because they’re not sure:
Michelle provided a tip last night:
One thing’s for certain: President Obama & Loretta Lynch remain totally stumped about his motive.
Rahami was put on the FBI’s radar in 2014, but not for long:
The FBI conducted a preliminary investigation into terror suspect Ahmad Khan Rahami after his father contacted them following a 2014 stabbing to express concerns that his son was a terrorist.
“In August 2014, the FBI initiated an assessment of Ahmad Rahami based upon comments made by his father after a domestic dispute that were subsequently reported to authorities,” the bureau confirmed in a statement.
“The FBI conducted internal database reviews, interagency checks, and multiple interviews, none of which revealed ties to terrorism,” it said.
A law enforcement official told the Associated Press that the FBI looked into the matter, but that Mohammed Rahami later retracted his comment and said he meant that his son, Ahmad Khan Rahami, was hanging out with the wrong crowd, including gangs.
The FBI reviewed its databases and found no credible connection to terrorism or threat to the US from the son, the official said.
Rahami’s wife has been taken into custody in the United Arab Emirates.
