What happened last night in the Senate; Plus: Tick, tick, tick, still no Demcare bill

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 18, 2009 11:06 AM

When last we left the Senate chamber, Harry Reid had dragged himself onto the floor after an hour delay to recess until 12:01am Eastern. An hour after midnight, the Dems brought the defense authorization bill up for a cloture vote. This after months and months of delay on the bill, which has been used by [...]

Seems like only yesterday the Washington establishment had proclaimed the Death of the GOP. Pundits churned out public autopsy reports faster than the L.A. County Medical Examiner. Liberals gloated over the supposedly irreparable fissures between right-wing populists and Beltway Republican elites. Conservatism, we were told, [...]

GOP keeping the heat on ACORN

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 2, 2009 01:19 PM

Yesterday, House Republicans held a forum on ACORN’s political criminal enterprise in the face of repeated refusals by the Democrat majority to investigate and on the heels of AG Eric Holder’s insistence that ACORN get its tax dollars. Ranking GOP member Rep. Lamar Smith stood firm on the need to deny new [...]

Americans shifting to the right (Snowe and Collins not listening)

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 6, 2009 01:26 PM

Nearly 4 in 10 Americans say their views are growing more conservative, according to a new Gallup poll:
Despite the results of the 2008 presidential election, Americans, by a 2-to-1 margin, say their political views in recent years have become more conservative rather than more liberal, 39% to 18%, with 42% saying they have not changed. [...]

Cap-and-tax: Inhofe says it’s “dead in the water”

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 1, 2009 01:40 PM

Killing cap-and-tax won’t happen without massive resistance and persistence. Gird your loins and get on the phone next week.
Via the Tulsa World, Sen. Inhofe says it’s “dead in the water” — notwithstanding the arrival of a new clown in town:
U.S. Jim Inhofe, who earlier said a criminal investigation “probably should be’’ conducted into allegations the [...]

Al Franken, rejected

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 6, 2009 03:23 PM

State Supreme Court ruling just handed down. Maybe Franken will march onto Washington, Burris-style?
The Minnesota Supreme Court has rejected Democrat Al Franken’s petition for an election certificate that would put him in the U.S. Senate without waiting for a lawsuit to be resolved.
Franken is ahead of Republican Norm Coleman by 225 votes. Coleman’s ongoing lawsuit [...]

Geithner, “tax goofs,” and the go-along GOP

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 16, 2009 10:00 AM

Looks like our GOP friends are gonna roll!
My column carries the ball forward on the Tim Geithner debacle. Two debacles, really: 1) The serial tax-dodging, ridiculous excuses, and bailout failure of Barack Obama’s Treasury Secretary nominee; and 2) Geithner’s go-along apologists in the Senate GOP. Underscoring the theme of my column today? Read this headline: [...]

*The latest from Gaza…
Two more senior Hamas terrorists are dead. And this: 35 Palestinians killed by Islamists, 75 shot in legs in the past week “to ensure they don’t help Israel.” Allahpundit’s full coverage is here. The clock is ticking. U.S. tells UN Security Council to stuff it.

*The Minnesota Senate race pitting the nation’s unfunniest comedian against Norm Coleman is a dead heat at 42-42. There’s talk of a recount.
*In a reprise of 2004, the Washington state gubernatorial race is a squeaker. Democrat incumbent Christine Gregoire is holding a premature celebration; GOP challenger upstart Dino Rossi, who [...]
