Lots of folks are buzzing about this vile anti-Bush image, which was printed in the Nation magazine’s latest issue. It is, as the site mentions, a take-off of Goya’s famous painting, “Saturn Devouring one of his Children.”
The bright bulb who came up with this stunningly unoriginal idea (an Independent cartoonist did the same thing with Ariel Sharon’s head last year) is formerly-NEA funded artist Richard Serra–last remembered for using public funds to build the hideous “Tilted Arc,” which obstructed NYC’s Federal Plaza until federal workers finally voted to tear it down.
“I don’t think it is the function of art to be pleasing,” Serra sniffed.
Jerk.
