Update II: An “anti-neocon” march in D.C. is scheduled for tomorrow that will make pitstops at the American Enterprise Institute, the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, the Brookings Institution and the Center for Strategic and International Studies, among other places.

Democratic rally — 11:30 a.m. — The Backbone Campaign holds a rally and march to deliver a spine to Democratic National Committee headquarters and make three demands: new progressive leadership, a bold grassroots strategy and a clear progressive agenda. Rally starts at Folger Park, 2nd and D streets SE. Washington and proceeds to the DNC, 430 South Capitol St. SE.

Kerry spent much of Bush’s big day out of the limelight.

Yet when he first stepped out of the U.S. Capitol to attend the inauguration ceremony, his smiling face was shown to the crowd on a big outdoor television screen.

A smattering of cheers from the predominantly Republican gathering was quickly drowned out by loud groans and a few jeers. One man shouted, “Loser.”
