The much-anticipated Volcker report on the U.N. Oil for Food fiasco is scheduled to be posted here at noon today. The Wall Street Journal editorializes further on Kofi Annan’s son, Kojo, and his smelly Iraq connections–first reported by investigative blogger Roger L. Simon on Sunday night. Simon mentions that he will work in tandem with the indefatigable Claudia Rosett. Stay tuned to his blog.

Elsewhere, the Financial Times explains how Kojo got his mojo and earlier exposed hidden payments to Kojo from Cotecna, a shady inspection company. And, of course, you’ve all probably seen the Australian Times article on how Daddy Kofi plans to hang Kojo out to dry to save his own derriere.

Speaking of which, the corruptocrats in France are voicing “full support” for Kofi Annan without having seen the Volcker report.

Guess who else is expressing “confidence” in Kofi? Apparently, our own State Department! The U.N. Dispatch, blog mouthpiece of the U.N. Foundation, provides a transcript.

Update: 1147am Report’s not out yet, but AP has a copy and although it’s not a “clear vindication,” it looks like it pretty much takes Kofi off the hook.

Annan’s son Kojo “actively participated in efforts by Cotecna to conceal the true nature of its continuing relationship with him,” the report said.

Kojo Annan wasn’t “forthcoming” in interviews with the Volcker panel on the subject of the company accounts through which he was paid in 1999 and 2000, and has refused to answer questions about his financial interests, the report said.

A 1999 inquiry by Kofi Annan’s chief of staff into the possible conflict of interest stemming from Kojo Annan’s employment by Cotecna was “inadequate,” and the matter should have been referred to the UN Office of Internal Oversight Services or the Office of Legal Affairs, the Volcker report said. A proper inquiry would have made it “unlikely” that Cotecna would have been awarded the contracts, the report said.
