According to Emily Gest, a spokeswoman for the New York City Dept. of Investigation, the “transcript” of Al Franken’s remarks cited by the New York Times in this article apparently does not exist. “There is no official transcript,” Gest informed me. “You should expect to see a correction in the Times.” As I noted last night, the Franken quote reported by the Times differs from what Franken said here. I’ve sent e-mails to the Times asking them to explain the discrepancy. Stay tuned.

In related news, the Associated Press finally moved a story about the scandal. The article appears in Newsday, which has ignored the story until now. Like the Times, AP simply rehashes what blogs and a few MSM outlets have already reported; there’s no new information. At least AP got the Franken quote right.
