THE WASHINGTON POST: BRINGING BLOGGERS TOGETHER

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 6, 2006 02:11 PM

Left-wing blog Raw Story takes a critical look at the Washington Post’s unfair and still uncorrected smear job on milblogger Bill Roggio.

Bloggers on the right and left should remain united in forcing Post reporters Jonathan Finer and Douglas Struck and their editors to address their errors and misrepresentations.

The Washington Post is committed to correcting errors that appear in the newspaper. Those interested in contacting the paper for that purpose can send an e-mail to corrections@washpost.com or call the main number, 202-334-6000, and ask to be connected to the desk involved — National, Foreign, Metro, Style, Sports, Business or any of the weekly sections. In addition, the ombudsman’s number is 202-334-7582.

Glenn Reynolds: “I don’t think the Post has come off very well in this matter so far.”

Indeed. They look like big jerks. It has been more than a week since Roggio pointed out Finer and Struck’s failings. How much longer do they plan on ignoring him?

Update: A reader wrote the following in an e-mail to WaPo ombudsman Deborah Howell…

The appearance is that the Washington Post does, indeed, write from an agenda instead of observed facts and careful analysis…You and your organization should defend yourselves and your actions, less the appearance remain reality through your own inaction.

Howell wrote back and agreed:

I totally agree with you we need to answer. The reporters are in Iraq in the field and it’s been a problem getting them and researching it. There will be an answer. Deborah

Another reader e-mails:

I just spoke to the WAPO editor of the Iraq desk…

The editor of the Iraq desk is Andy Mosher, and one of the two writers of the WAPO article about Roggio works for him. I don’t recall which one.

Mr. Mosher said that there were a couple of corrections that need to be made, and as it turns out he has been sick all week and it just did not get done. A correction is probably coming either tomorrow or early next week.

Next excuse: Mosher’s dog ate the corrections?

Blackfive is keeping watch.
