MISSING SOLDIERS FOUND DEAD
***scroll for updates***
They were “barbarically” killed, according to the Washington Post. Allah has more–and notes that the next of kin have yet to be notified. Keep them in your prayers.
An uncle of one of the soldiers is criticizing the government. Newsbusters has more.
Thanks to John Little for linking to PFC Tucker’s last recorded phone message to his family:
Be proud of me Mom, I’m defending my country. Tell sis and my nephews hello for me, I’m OK, I’m on my way.
Listen to a snippet of the phone call at Hot Air.
The murders of these brave soldiers by desperate terrorists will be used to bolster the flailing cut-and-run brigade’s agenda.
But don’t lose sight or hope. Austin Bay links to an important piece by Iraq’s National Security Adviser on the road map to completing the mission in Iraq.
McQ has a pair of must-read posts: a detailed analysis of the Department of Defense latest report to Congress on progress in Iraq and a post on the lessons of this terrible episode:
This will be the lesson of the day from every commander out there. When you have a group that small, you never split them. You either all go, or you all stay.
There’s another lesson, an unofficial one, which will be passed among the troops themselves. Never surrender. They’ll just kill you anyway. It’s better to go down fighting.
Reader David e-mails:
As parents of a Marine Helicopter pilot, we are saddened by the death of these 2 American soldiers who were captured and killed. But we are at war with a brutal and evil enemy. An enemy who obviously has no regard for a captured soldier’s life. An enemy who threatens so many families into performing actions against our troops or else they slaughter them. An enemy who continues to bomb and kill their own innocent people, having no regard for life. I pray that even in this situation, people will see the real difference between fighting for the freedoms these soldiers are hoping to achieve and these brutal coward killers who promote a culture of death.
There should be an outcry today from all Americans including the mainstream media and the anti-war lefties in Congress and elsewhere, who have made such noise regarding “inhumane” treatment of captured soldiers or insurgents at Guantanamo or any other place where they are held captive. Can you imagine the outcry there would be today if the situation were reversed?
I doubt we will hear the same intensity in their voices or in their printed words regarding these two soldiers. We thank them for their ultimate sacrifice. We pray that God will uphold and provide strength for their families in this difficult time and in the days ahead. May God bless their memory. Let us continue to support and remember our soldiers in your prayers each day.
David
