Looking For Steve Centanni

By Mary Katharine Ham  •  August 16, 2006 12:09 AM

Allah has more details.

The San Jose Mercury-News interviews the Bay Area native’s family:

Nicholas Centanni said that Steve’s love of travel and desire to tell human stories drives his passion for reporting overseas.

“He is probably hoping his work will do some good to stop this madness,” Nicholas Centanni said.

Nicholas Centanni describes his brother, who graduated from San Francisco State University with a bachelor’s degree in television and radio in 1977, as a gentle, peaceful man.

His family includes seven brothers and a sister, who mostly live on the West Coast. Steve Centanni moved to Washington D.C. when he took the job with Fox News a few years ago.

The close-knit clan, which vacationed in Canada together earlier this year, is taking heart in the fact that Fox News representatives and Palestinian leaders are working for their brother’s release, Ken Centanni said.

“That’s what we are hanging our hats on right now,” Ken Centanni said.

Hotline On Call was watching Fox coverage:

FNC’s Griffin: “We’ve been reporting today that two of our colleagues were kidnapped in Gaza earlier today. They were taken against their will from the vehicle they were driving in. Fox News at this time is doing everything within its power to get them safely returned back home, and we will report more on that as we have details”
