U.N. declares Castro a “World Hero of Solidarity”

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 5, 2009 01:33 PM

Yes, it’s true.
The United Nations has declared misery-inducing, freedom-strangling Cuban dictator Fidel Castro a “World Hero of Solidarity.”

Via David Kopel at Volokh Conspiracy, h/t Hans Bader at OpenMarket.org, who writes:
The award was presented to Castro by the President of the UN General Assembly, Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann. Brockmann also successfully lobbied the Obama Administration to demand [...]

“You can think whatever you want to about Fidel Castro, but he was one of the brightest leaders I have ever met.”

Castro Watch: Walking Commie corpse appears on TV

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 23, 2009 09:36 PM

Old commies never die. They just keep turning up on state-run TV…
Former leader Fidel Castro appeared on Sunday on Cuban television for the first time since June of last year in a video of him chatting with students from Venezuela.
Castro, 83, appeared to be in good condition as he spoke with the students about the [...]

PETA + Che Guevera’s granddaughter = Political Ipecac

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 18, 2009 11:48 PM

What could be more stomach-turning than a radical animal rights group that has a snit fit over a swatted fly paying homage to a mass-murdering Marxist guerilla? Yep. PETA has teamed up with Che Guevara’s granddaughter to pimp the “vegetarian revolution.”
Not going to post the photo of their new ad campaign. Click here if you [...]

CBC: Congressional boot-lickers

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 10, 2009 06:03 AM

My Good Friday column this week spotlights the religious oppression in Cuba that the Congressional Black Caucus tools of Fidel Castro choose not to see. If ignorance is bliss, the CBC members who went on tour with the tyrant are the most ecstatically happy people on the planet.
And just a reminder that I’m on a [...]

Commie Stooges of the Day Award

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 7, 2009 10:36 PM

And the award goes to…the Castro sycophants of the Congressional Black Caucus.
Oh.
Crikey.
The aging, ailing, cigar-smoking icon Fidel Castro had three members of Congress visit with him today in Havana, which resulted in the bearded one asking, “How can we help President Obama?” In an effort to improve the relationship between Cuba and the U.S., [...]

Grading the MSM’s Cuban revolution coverage

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 2, 2009 06:04 AM

Fidel Castro gives the American media two thumbs up for clueless coverage and wimpy whitewashing of the 50th anniversary of the Cuban revolution.
Henry Louis Gomez at the indispensable Babalu blog (which was recently honored by the White House) provides a handy score card to help you grade the MSM’s Cuban revolution pieces.
The AP aces the [...]

“We want to advise you that you have transgressed the limits of tolerance…”

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 4, 2008 09:51 AM

A group of dissident Cuban bloggers has been planning a gathering for December 6. Fidel Castro and his thugs are not happy.
Over the past few weeks, Michael Moore’s dream paradise has been slowly tightening its vice grip to silence the bloggers. Over the 48 hours, two bloggers have been summoned by police.
Ernesto Hernández Busto e-mailed [...]

¿Dónde está Fidel Castro?

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 16, 2007 06:51 AM

Humberto Fontova writes today at Frontpage:
Only one thing was missing when Fidel Castro’s 81st birthday passed on August 13: Fidel Castro.
There was no appearance by the dictator, no snapshot or salutation from him in the official press, and little fanfare from the regime. A small fireworks show on Havana’s waterfront, El Malecon, was the [...]

The Pinko Blogburst

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 30, 2007 10:15 AM

Henry Gomez at Babalu Blog led an anti-socialist blogburst this week to counter Michael Moore’s anti-American, pro-Cuban health care crockumentary.
Claudia 4 Libertad strikes back:
Ask any Cuban who has recently left the island (because they can’t talk freely about this inside of Cuba) about their health care system and they will tell you that it is [...]

Cuba comes to Michael Moore’s defense

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 12, 2007 09:50 AM

Cuba is decrying the “censorship” of crockumentarian Michael Moore. Yeah, Cuba is decrying censorship:
Cuba characterized American filmmaker Michael Moore as a victim of censorship and the U.S. trade embargo as it reported Friday on a U.S. Treasury Department probe of his March visit here for his upcoming health-care documentary, “Sicko.”
Moore took the trip, for a [...]

Class trip to Cuba

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 16, 2007 10:09 AM

It’s Monday. Do you know where your kid’s next field trip is? The NYPost has an exclusive on a Castro-lovin’ high school teacher who whisked his students to Cuba for a spring break trip–in defiance of economic sanctions and travel restrictions, and in apparent violation of the principal’s orders.

Did Mitt Romney pull a Hillary?

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 20, 2007 11:28 AM

Mitt Romney photoshopped (or rather, “photo/illustrated”) as Fidel Castro on the front cover of the Boston Herald (hat tip – Sondra K)
Hillary Clinton’s Southern accent and black vote pandering were awful.
Mitt Romney’s Spanish accent and Cuban vote pandering look just as bad. The Miami Herald reported yesterday:
Presidential candidate bungles speech in Miami

Is Castro finally dead?

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 12, 2006 08:09 PM

Babalu Blog is hearing rumors.
Pajamas Media is checking things out and reports:
“Spanish Radio said to have reported Castro dead. Miami police on alert.”
Related: The Ileana Ros-Lehtinen flap.
Meanwhile, North Korea has awarded Castro a “Labor Hero” decoration:

Fidel Death Watch

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 2, 2006 09:19 PM

Kate at Small Dead Animals, following up on Castro’s no-show, places her bets:
Dead, dead, dead. Deader than a doornail. Deader than a dead cat bounce….He’d be pushing up daisies if he weren’t glued into that Adidas Bionic Tracksuit. Dead, dead, dead, dead, dead.
Looks like the bettors at Tradesports are leaning Kate’s way, too:

Castro’s a no-show

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 2, 2006 11:11 AM

All dressed up and nowhere to go
The ailing Cuban dictator didn’t show up for his 80th birthday celebration.
Val Prieto previewed the parade charade at Babalu Blog.
Hugo Chavez sent his regrets that “he could not travel to Cuba to participate in the celebrations for Fidel Castro’s 80th birthday, but assured he would visit the island after [...]

Dictator in jammies

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 14, 2006 01:55 PM

-
There are new photos of a recovering Fidel Castro in his silk pajamas. He’s preparing for a gathering of fellow tyrants and dictators, which Kofi Annan is scheduled to address tomorrow.
Val at Babalu Blog reports:
I just received word that all activities for today’s Non-Aligned Movement in Cuba have been cancelled and rescheduled for tomorrow. [...]

DANCES WITH COMMUNIST WOLVES

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 8, 2005 03:00 PM

Whee! A group called “Professionals in the City” is throwing a party at the Cuban Embassy. Val Prieto at Babalu Blog blows the whistle.
Hat tip to Bill at INDC Journal, who asks:
Would your conscience be clear to devour a lavish Hanjeongsik spread with the smiling representatives of Kim Jong Il’s terrible regime? Could you drink [...]
