Culture of corruption watch: “Put nothing in writing…ever”

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 9, 2009 10:42 AM

Same old, same old.
Well, you were warned.
In December, I raised the alarm over Obama eco-czar’s transparency-undermining, document-deleting habits.
I wrote back then: “If fiscal conservatives, sound science advocates, and businesses don’t raise a stink about Browner’s crooked background, they deserve everything that’s coming to them.”
Now, Mark Tapscott at the Examiner reports:
Carol Browner, former Clinton administration [...]

The farce of cap-and-tax revealed

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 9, 2009 10:27 AM

From Sen. James Inhofe:

What does it mean? The truth about the cap-and-trade farce revealed:
During a hearing today in the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, EPA Administrator Jackson confirmed an EPA analysis showing that unilateral U.S. action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions would have no effect on climate. Moreover, when presented with an EPA [...]

Meet the retrofit police

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 8, 2009 01:19 PM

I noted last week on Twitter that if Cap and Tax becomes law, Americans will need to prepare for the Retrofit Police, the Lightbulb Brigade & Obam-odometers.
Jimmie Bise takes an in-depth look at the retrofitting provisions of the House cap-and-trade bill — Section 304.
Read the whole deal here.

Here’s what the Democrats have planned for you. [...]

Cap and Tax 8 Watch: A letter to Dave Reichert

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 8, 2009 12:17 PM

Photoshop credit: Leo Alberti
Reader Tim in Bonney Lake, Washington forwarded me his e-mail exchange with GOP Cap-and-Tax 8-er Rep. Dave Reichert. Definitely worth sharing, because it reflects a sentiment that hasn’t died down since the cramdown two weeks ago:
Hi, Michelle -
I’m a Dave Reichert constituent. The day of the vote on cap and trade, [...]

Al Gore: If you question global warming cult, you’re a Nazi

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 7, 2009 01:31 PM

More hot air from ManBearPig, via the Times of London, who fashions himself Winston Churchill in a green cape:
Al Gore today compared the battle against climate change with the struggle against the Nazis.
The former US Vice President said the world lacked the political will to act and invoked the spirit of Winston Churchill by encouraging [...]

We celebrated our freedoms this Independence Day. Now, it’s time to fight for them. Hope you are feeling energized. There is much work to be done.
On the front-burner: Defeating the cap-and-tax bill.
The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee begins hearings on Tuesday.

Cap-and-Tax Watch: Protests across the country

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 3, 2009 10:08 AM

Photoshop: Leo Alberti
Like my friend Kirby Wilbur in Seattle said, cap-and-tax is a “make or break” issue for many, many grass-roots limited government activists.
You wouldn’t know it from the national media, but there have been and will continue to be cap-and-tax protests at congressional offices across the country. Some small, some large, all attended by [...]

Cap-and-Tax 8 Watch: Dave Reichert’s rationalization

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 2, 2009 03:58 PM

Photoshop credit: Leo Alberti
I’m hearing from many old friends and readers that GOP Rep. Dave Reichert in Washington state is in hot water over his cap-and-tax vote.
KVI talk show host and GOP activist Kirby Wilbur says the vote was “make or break” for grass-roots conservatives in the 8th district. Party precinct officers, donors, and volunteers [...]

Cap-and-tax: Inhofe says it’s “dead in the water”

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 1, 2009 01:40 PM

Killing cap-and-tax won’t happen without massive resistance and persistence. Gird your loins and get on the phone next week.
Via the Tulsa World, Sen. Inhofe says it’s “dead in the water” — notwithstanding the arrival of a new clown in town:
U.S. Jim Inhofe, who earlier said a criminal investigation “probably should be’’ conducted into allegations the [...]

Flashback: The Obamasburg Address

Video: EPA dissenter Alan Carlin speaks

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 30, 2009 07:13 PM

Alan Carlin is a brave man. He notes at the end of this Fox and Friends interview this morning that things are “strained” at his agency, but he “still has a job.” For now.
What I’m hearing: According to insiders, Carlin is not the only one who has faced/may face possible retaliation by the eco-zealous bureaucrats [...]

A reader with deep expertise in the mining industry took the time to break down the House members who voted yes to cap-and-tax on Friday by coal-producing state. He writes:
I just developed a table of all the Representatives from coal-producing states who voted for Cap & Trade. Included on the table [...]

The Pelosi Republicans

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 29, 2009 02:27 PM

I rolled my eyes a few weeks ago when GOP Whip Eric Cantor whined that Nancy Pelosi wouldn’t meet with Republicans.
Instead of wasting breath looking desperate, the GOP leadership should have been making sure each and every member fully understood the devastating impact of cap-and-tax and had properly girded their loins against being bought off.
Pelosi [...]

Tea Party Watch: Protesting the cap-and-tax cramdown

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 27, 2009 09:55 AM

Photoshop: Leo Alberti
It’s not just what’s in the bill. It’s the way they rammed it through the House.
Just like the porkulus: Under-handed, transparency-defying, and stuffed with earmark payoffs and bribes concocted in middle-of-the night, backroom deals.
Taxpayers are mad again. And they’re not going to sit still.
Impromptu flash protests are taking place today at state capitols [...]

Cap and trade regulations: Do you trust this man?

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 26, 2009 04:47 PM

This is a red flag. On the House floor this afternoon, Barney Frank explained the “placeholder” in the cap and trade bill that apparently will deal with regulations of financial derivatives market associated with reducing carbon emissions.
Frank says he is confident a “good system will be in place.”
In other words: Trust him.
Hello?
Trust him?

Cap and tax liveblog, Pt II: Pay attention to House floor games; 14 undecideds; let’s play “Where’s the Bill?”

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 26, 2009 02:42 PM

(Continuing from morning liveblogging…keep refreshing browser for latest updates…)
At approx. 2:35pm Eastern, GOP Rep. Joe Barton announced that there is now a placeholder in the bill to be determined later.
Barton notes that this is unprecedented. He can’t recall any final passage of a bill that has a placeholder in it.
What the hell is going on?

Twisted priorities

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 26, 2009 01:31 PM

Members of Congress don’t have enough time to read through the 1,200-page cap-and-trade (truth in advertising: cap-and-TAX) monstrosity that will radically alter the economy in the name of the environment…
…but they have time to pause for a moment of silence to mark the death of Hollyweirdo Michael Jackson.
Can we have a moment of silence to [...]

EPA plays hide and seek; suppressed report revealed

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 26, 2009 12:30 AM

My syndicated column below slams the EPA for suppressing inconvenient truths about Obama’s politicized global warming agenda. As I blogged early Wednesday afternoon, the Competitive Enterprise Institute released e-mails detailing how eco-bureaucrats stifled a senior researcher who challenged the agency’s reliance on outdated data to support its greenhouse gas “public endangerment” finding.
Breaking late tonight, CEI [...]

Bogus cap-and-trade statistic of the day

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 23, 2009 02:51 PM

Conn Carroll does the math:
Most problematic is their complete omission of economic damage from restricting energy use. Footnote three on page four reads, “The resource cost does not indicate the potential decrease in gross domestic product (GDP) that could result from the cap. The reduction in GDP would also include indirect general equilibrium effects, such [...]
