For the Goracle, watching a presidential campaign that isn’t focusing on his cash cow is too much for him to bear.

From the Daily Caller:

Though in recent years the climate change issue has disappeared from the forefront (and former Vice President Al Gore has found himself criticizing Democratic President Barack Obama for not being more aggressive on the issue), on Tuesday night’s coverage of the New Hampshire primary on Current TV, Gore insisted it should be part of the 2012 campaign.

“It should be in the presidential campaign,” Gore said. “And it is not at present. Not a single question was asked about climate in any of the numerous, multitudinous debates that these candidates have had. And yet in the year 2011, the United States of America had more than 12 climate-related disasters that cost over a billion dollars. The state of Texas has had the worst drought in its history. It is climate-related. Out of 254 counties, 252 are on fire. 2010 was the hottest year ever recorded. We have record melting of the volume of ice in the Arctic Ocean, dramatically powerful storms, in Pakistan, Australia, the Northeast. Record flooding in the Mississippi and the Missouri Rivers, and the list goes on. And it’s consistent with what the scientific community has been warning us.”

Gore added that the future of civilization was “at risk” if the issue continues to be neglected.

I’ll bet those two counties in the state that aren’t on fire are loaded with climate change deniers.

Gore wants the world to let him lead the charge to change the planet’s climate and weather patterns but he can’t even control Keith Olbermann for cryin’ out loud…

Gird your coins, video gamers — the Goracle is making a foray into another industry:

Now he’s collaborating with the creatives of PSFK on “Gaming For Good”, challenging companies to create new games that address the same issues facing his Climate Reality Project – and also being fun to play.

After receiving 60 game proposals from around the world, the entries have been narrowed down to the 10 top finalists, which was then whittled down to four by Gore himself. Among the finalists are Greensquare, “a gaming platform that gives you and your friends a new, greener way to explore local retail store, restaurants and businesses”. Gore was particularly taken with REALiTREE, “a digital representation of our local environment and the role we are playing in sustaining its wellbeing.”

“Games are fun,” Gore told an audience at a “Gaming For Good” event in New York. “I am not saying this as an expert. But looking at the enormous amount of time people are spending playing games, I can see that social games for good represent a fantastic opportunity for encouraging change in political and social spaces.”

Here’s an idea for a game: “Condition Hypocritical”: The goal is to get Al from his mansion to his limo to his private jet so he can fly halfway around the world to an emergency conference on how to eliminate greenhouse gases before everybody on the planet perishes from anthropogenic global warming.

Other games Gore is said to have in the works include…

–Modern Gorefare: Carbon Credit of Duty
–Grand Theft Economy
–Taxpayer-Subsidized Electric Mario Kart
–Angry Deniers
–Guitar Hero: Gibson Terminator

Nobody in his or her right mind would resign from the prestigious American Physical Society, but that it has happened can now serve as further proof that global warming causes mental illness.

From Fox News:

Dr. Ivar Giaever, a former professor with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the 1973 winner of the Nobel Prize in physics, abruptly announced his resignation Tuesday, Sept. 13, from the premier physics society in disgust over its officially stated policy that “global warming is occurring.”

The official position of the American Physical Society (APS) supports the theory that man’s actions have inexorably led to the warming of the planet, through increased emissions of carbon dioxide.

Giaever does not agree — and put it bluntly and succinctly in the subject line of his email, reprinted at Climate Depot, a website devoted to debunking the theory of man-made climate change.

“I resign from APS,” Giaever wrote.

Giaever was cooled to the statement on warming theory by a line claiming that “the evidence is incontrovertible.”

“In the APS it is ok to discuss whether the mass of the proton changes over time and how a multi-universe behaves, but the evidence of global warming is incontrovertible?” he wrote in an email to Kate Kirby, executive officer of the physics society.
[...]
The use of the word “incontrovertible” had already caused debate within the group, so much so that an addendum was added to the statement discussing its use in April, 2010.

“The word ‘incontrovertible’ … is rarely used in science because by its very nature, science questions prevailing ideas. The observational data indicate a global surface warming of 0.74 °C (+/- 0.18 °C) since the late 19th century.”

What makes this latest blow to the AGW peddlers sting even more is that Dr. Ivar Giaever isn’t exactly a right-winger. As noted by John Hayward at Human Events, he supported Barack Obama in 2008:

Giaever is, however, no Hayek-loving proponent of economic liberty. He endorsed Obama’s disastrous brand of politically-controlled economics, supporting America’s Worst President during the 2008 elections by co-signing a letter critical of George Bush’s insufficient zeal for pouring federal money into science projects. An excerpt from the letter:

We have watched Senator Obama’s approach to these issues with admiration. We especially applaud his emphasis during the campaign on the power of science and technology to enhance our nation’s competitiveness. In particular, we support the measures he plans to take — through new initiatives in education and training, expanded research funding, an unbiased process for obtaining scientific advice, and an appropriate balance of basic and applied research — to meet the nation’s and the world’s most urgent needs.

Obama must not have made his stance on global warming clear enough in 2008, because the endorsement soured quickly:

Giaever was also one of more than 100 co-signers in a March 30, 2009 letter to President Obama that was critical of his stance on global warming.

More than a hundred co-signers? To paraphrase Bill Clinton, “It depends on what your definition of ‘consensus’ is…”

Giaever made a couple of good points in his resignation letter:

The claim (how can you measure the average temperature of the whole earth for a whole year?) is that the temperature has changed from ~288.0 to ~288.8 degree Kelvin in about 150 years, which (if true) means to me is that the temperature has been amazingly stable, and both human health and happiness have definitely improved in this ‘warming’ period.

Al Gore is now devoting 24 straight hours to figuring out where “deniers” like Gaiever get their funding.

In the spirit of fairness, I’m offering Al Gore a minute for rebuttal (BS warning):

Update: Jim Treacher breaks down what will be Gore’s logic for discrediting Giaever:

Okay, let’s look at this reasonably and dispassionately:

1.The science is settled, and all the scientists agree about the existence and causes of the problem.
2.“Doctor” Ivar Giaever disagrees.
3.Therefore, Ivar Giaever is not a scientist.

It isn’t often you hear the words “Al Gore” and “reality” in the same sentence in any place that doesn’t have straps on the beds, let alone hear them for 24 straight hours:

Former Vice President Al Gore will renew his 30-year campaign to convince skeptics of the link between climate change and extreme weather events this week in a 24-hour global multi-media event.

“24 Hours of Reality” will broadcast a presentation by Al Gore every hour for 24 hours across 24 different time zones from Wednesday to Thursday, with the aim of convincing climate change deniers and driving action against global warming among households, schools and businesses.

The campaign also asks people to hand over control of their social networking accounts on Facebook and Twitter to it for 24 hours to deliver Gore’s message.

Considering “24 Hours of Reality” is being promoted by a guy who is hell-bent to become the first carbon billionaire, this part is especially funny (warning: if you’re drinking coffee, cover your monitor with cellophane):

“There will be a full-on assault on climate skeptics, exploring where they get their funding from.”

Is Mr. Haney questioning the motives of Oliver Douglas? It sounds that way.

Sources tell me that, to close out the Gore-a-Thon, Al will take the stage and sing an emotional rendition of Big Yellow Taxi.

Given Gore’s enormous level of eco-hypocrisy, it’s possible he’s only opposed because the proposed pipeline wouldn’t run straight to his mansions, limos and private jets.

From The Hill:

Former Vice President Al Gore called on President Obama late Wednesday to reject a pending permit application for a controversial pipeline project, calling the oil that it would carry “the dirtiest fuel on the planet.”

“The answer to our climate, energy and economic challenges does not lie in burning more dirty fossil fuels —instead, we must continue to press for much more rapid development of renewable energy and energy efficient technologies and cuts in the pollution that causes global warming,” Gore, a vocal climate activist, wrote on his blog Wednesday night.

The State Department is just months away from a decision on the proposed TransCanada’s Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry Canadian oil sands from Alberta to refineries on the Texas Gulf coast.

Gore also praised the those who protested the pipeline in front of the White House the other day. During that protest, actress Daryl Hannah was arrested for A) Refusing to comply with US Park Police; B) Failure to pay back taxes; or C) Taking part in the remake of Attack of the 50ft Woman (the answer is “A”…I think).

Via Jamie Weinstein at the Daily Caller, here’s video of a few of the protesters near the White House. If some of these folks don’t have careers waiting for them in the EPA (or even as future directors of NASA’s Goddard Institute) I don’t know who does:

**Written by Doug Powers

You know, I’ve always wondered if that enormous, fiery, scorching hot ball in the sky that is 109 times bigger than our planet might have some impact on temperature changes and climate cycles here on Earth, and if the causes of same weren’t limited to styrofoam cups, SUVs, hamburgers and things Republicans do. Now it’s looking more and more like that could be the case:

The science is now all-but-settled on global warming, convincing new evidence demonstrates, but Al Gore, the IPCC and other global warming doomsayers won’t be celebrating. The new findings point to cosmic rays and the sun — not human activities — as the dominant controller of climate on Earth.

The research, published with little fanfare this week in the prestigious journal Nature, comes from über-prestigious CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, one of the world’s largest centres for scientific research involving 60 countries and 8,000 scientists at more than 600 universities and national laboratories. CERN is the organization that invented the World Wide Web, that built the multi-billion dollar Large Hadron Collider, and that has now built a pristinely clean stainless steel chamber that precisely recreated the Earth’s atmosphere.

In this chamber, 63 CERN scientists from 17 European and American institutes have done what global warming doomsayers said could never be done — demonstrate that cosmic rays promote the formation of molecules that in Earth’s atmosphere can grow and seed clouds, the cloudier and thus cooler it will be. Because the sun’s magnetic field controls how many cosmic rays reach Earth’s atmosphere (the stronger the sun’s magnetic field, the more it shields Earth from incoming cosmic rays from space), the sun determines the temperature on Earth.

The results of the CLOUD experiment may never get a lot of mainstream attention, mostly due to efforts to avoid politicizing the findings and angering those who stand to greatly profit from selling AGW as scientific fact — which if you think about it, is politicizing the findings, except in the opposite direction.

We’ll now wait for Al Gore to accuse CERN, and possibly the sun, of being racist.

When you look at Al Gore, are “organic” and “quasi-vegan” the first words that come to mind?

From Politico:

Al Gore wants society to ditch meat-heavy diets and go organic to combat global warming.

“Industrial agriculture is a part of the problem,” Gore said Friday during an interview with FearLess Revolution founder Alex Bogusky. “The shift toward a more meat-intensive diet,” the clearing of forest areas in many parts of the world in order to raise more cattle and the reliance on synthetic nitrogen for fertilizer are also problems, he added.

Instead, Gore advocated organic farming and relying on “more productive, safer methods that put carbon back in the soil” to produce “safer and better food.”

So remember to be more like Al. The next time you leave one of your mansions, climb into a limo, wave goodbye to your four children, drive to the airport and board your private jet to fly to a conference halfway around the world where you’ll tell everybody to have fewer kids and limit their carbon footprints, make sure your in-flight meal is organic and meatless. That way you’ll have a clear conscience from the knowledge that you just did your part to save the planet.

And, predictably…

He compared the struggle against climate skeptics to the fight against racism during the civil rights movement.

Cough. Excuse me.

Gore also called on his side to “win the conversation” in the global warming debate, which isn’t easy for Gore since he refuses to debate anybody on the other side of the argument.

Finally, Don Surber’s Gore vs. Gore is worth a read this weekend.

On Saturday I wrote a little about an Al Gore diatribe from a conference in Aspen that was quoted in an article in the Colorado Independent. The partial transcript suggests that Gore is becoming even more frustrated than he was during the Great Dimpled Chad Hunt of 2000.

If you missed it, here was some of what Gore was quoted as saying:

“They pay pseudo-scientists to pretend to be scientists to put out the message: ‘This climate thing, it’s nonsense. Man-made CO2 doesn’t trap heat. It may be volcanoes.’ Bullshit! ‘It may be sun spots.’ Bullshit! ‘It’s not getting warmer.’ Bullshit!” Gore exclaimed.

“When you go and talk to any audience about climate, you hear them washing back at you the same crap over and over and over again,” he continued. “There’s no longer a shared reality on an issue like climate even though the very existence of our civilization is threatened. People have no idea! … It’s no longer acceptable in mixed company, meaning bipartisan company, to use the goddamn word climate. It is not acceptable. They have polluted it to the point where we cannot possibly come to an agreement on it.”

Thanks to the miracle of poor quality recording equipment, Al’s words can now be heard in all of their “I’ve got one foot in the cuckoo’s nest and the other on a carbon neutral banana peel” glory. It’s the sound of a level of frustration that only a man who recently bought a seaside mansion but who nevertheless expects everybody to believe the oceans are this close to rising and killing everything within 50 miles of the coast can muster.

Here’s the recording, with a h/t to Hot Air’s Allahpundit by way of Fox Nation. The sound is a little tinny — sort of like Al’s calling in from Mars — which might not be far from the truth (the Red Planet is battling global warming too):

**Written by Doug Powers

Speaking at a conference in Aspen on Thursday, Al Gore sounded frustrated — like a man who just found out Standard & Poor’s has downgraded his carbon credits to “junk” status.

This is from an article at the Colorado Independent entitled Al Gore Calls BS on Corporate Polluters (Al, Inc. got to Aspen by hitching a ride from Ed Begley Jr. in the sidecar of his bicycle).

Suffice to say it sounds as if the frustration is catching up:

The model of media manipulation used then [cigarette companies delaying implementation of the surgeon general's report on the hazards of smoking], Gore said, “was transported whole cloth into the climate debate. And some of the exact same people — I can go down a list of their names — are involved in this. And so what do they do? They pay pseudo-scientists to pretend to be scientists to put out the message: ‘This climate thing, it’s nonsense.

Al’s just a quart of missing strawberries and a handful of ball bearings away from turning into Captain Queeg on the witness stand. It’s only a matter of time.

Stand down, Green Helmets!

From Forbes by way of Yahoo News:

NASA satellite data from the years 2000 through 2011 show the Earth’s atmosphere is allowing far more heat to be released into space than alarmist computer models have predicted, reports a new study in the peer-reviewed science journal Remote Sensing. The study indicates far less future global warming will occur than United Nations computer models have predicted, and supports prior studies indicating increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide trap far less heat than alarmists have claimed.

Study co-author Dr. Roy Spencer, a principal research scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and U.S. Science Team Leader for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer flying on NASA’s Aqua satellite, reports that real-world data from NASA’s Terra satellite contradict multiple assumptions fed into alarmist computer models.

“The satellite observations suggest there is much more energy lost to space during and after warming than the climate models show,” Spencer said in a July 26 University of Alabama press release. “There is a huge discrepancy between the data and the forecasts that is especially big over the oceans.”

In addition to finding that far less heat is being trapped than alarmist computer models have predicted, the NASA satellite data show the atmosphere begins shedding heat into space long before United Nations computer models predicted.

So maybe we won’t have to spend $76 trillion to “green” the world?

From the report (PDF):

Yet, as seen in Figure 2, we are still faced with a rather large discrepancy in the time-lagged regression coefficients between the radiative signatures displayed by the real climate system in satellite data versus the climate models.

In all fairness, I wouldn’t expect computer models to be spot-on simulations of the real climate system, but in honest research I would expect computer models to, at least once in a while, not always coincidentally err on the side of the equation that just happens to make Al Gore richer and serve as “evidence” that the UN should be further funded to police the impending catastrophe.

Computer models of possible hurricane trajectories usually contain an array of possibilities based on a number of variables, but if the UN’s climates models were used, Hurricane Global Warming would always be poised for a direct hit on wherever the most wealth can be transferred.

And in related “Al Gore hardest hit” news…

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — A federal wildlife biologist whose observation in 2004 of presumably drowned polar bears in the Arctic helped to galvanize the global warming movement has been placed on administrative leave and is being investigated for scientific misconduct, possibly over the veracity of that article.

Charles Monnett, an Anchorage-based scientist with the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement, or BOEMRE, was told July 18 that he was being put on leave, pending results of an investigation into “integrity issues.” But he has not yet been informed by the inspector general’s office of specific charges or questions related to the scientific integrity of his work, said Jeff Ruch, executive director of Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility.

On Thursday, Ruch’s watchdog group plans to file a complaint with the agency on Monnett’s behalf, asserting that Obama administration officials have “actively persecuted” him in violation of policy intended to protect scientists from political interference.
[...]
The article and presentations drew national attention and helped make the polar bear something of a poster child for the global warming movement. Al Gore’s mention of the polar bear in his documentary on climate change, “An Inconvenient Truth,” came up during investigators’ questioning of Gleason in January.

On September 14th, Al Gore wants us to connect the dots, but we don’t really need to wait until then.

Because the world isn’t paying attention generously enough, Al Gore is leaving behind the “Alliance for Climate Protection” and replacing it with the Climate Reality Project:

Former Vice President Al Gore launched a new campaign Tuesday aimed at exposing the “full truth, scope, scale and impact of the climate crisis.”

The campaign, the Climate Reality Project, is organizing a Sept. 14 event and presentation focused on extreme weather and climate change.

For the event, Gore will unveil a new presentation modeled after the one he gave in his film “An Inconvenient Truth.” Twenty-four different people will deliver the presentation in 24 time zones around the world.

Great, that means it’s going to snow on September 14th.

Gore’s renewed push is in no small way an attempt to address growing number of people who aren’t buying what Al is selling:

NEW YORK, July 11 (UPI) — Three-quarters of Americans say natural disasters are on the increase, but fewer than ever believe the climate is heating up, a new poll finds.
[...]
Only 44 percent say they “believe the theory” that carbon dioxide emissions are warming the Earth, down from 51 percent in 2009 and 71 percent in 2007, but most movement has been into the “not sure” column.

That’s why Gore has the “it’s colder because of global warming” angle covered too, which has turned the entire movement into a raucous self-parody. Under the rules of “science” as set by Al Gore, there is no climate model that does anything other than prove him correct, and people have caught on.

But there’s too much potential money in it to stop now. The UN recently put the price tag of “greening” the entire world by 2050 at $76 trillion. That’s a lot of loot. Connect the dots.

Melting glaciers? Eh.

More hurricanes? Shrug.

Collapsing bridges? Pfft.

It’ll screw up your Internet access? Everybody panic!

At least that’s the hope this time:

Wi-fi internet access and other communications are at risk from global warming unless measures are taken to protect them from rising temperatures and stormier weather, a government report warned on Monday.

Presenting the report, the secretary of state for the environment, Caroline Spelman, said that higher temperatures can reduce the range of wireless communications, rainstorms can impact the reliability of the signal, and drier summers and wetter winters may cause greater subsidence, damaging masts and underground cables.
[...]
“If climate change threatens the quality of your signal, or you can’t get it because of extreme fluctuations in temperature, then you will be disadvantaged, which is why we must address the question,” said Spelman, “and just imagine in the height of an emergency if the communications system is down or adversely affected.”

The report is on how the UK’s infrastructure – from road and rail, to power stations, to water supplies – needs to be made more resilient to climate change.

Global warming being a threat to the Internet Al Gore took the initiative in inventing is the six degrees of separation in this claim. What’s even more catastrophic, the separation of six degrees will increase by one and a half degrees to a full seven and a half degrees of separation by 2050 if we don’t send the global warmists our money (snail mail only, no Internet transactions please — if you’ve been paying attention you know why).

Actually it’ll be kind of nice if global warming cripples the Internet a bit and spares us an intolerable onslaught of “hot ’nuff fer ya!?” Tweets.

Ace of Spades sums up the horror we face:

If we don’t destroy our economy immediately, we all could be plunged, temporarily, back into the Dark Ages of 1991-1993.

You might have to sign up for America Online again, people.

America. On. Line.

Get with the program, wingnuts. The porn you save could be your own.

**Written by Doug Powers

Will anybody who took part in the actual civil rights movement speak out against a pasty enviro-hypocrite who dares equate his environmental sham with the struggle for equality?

From The Hill:

Al Gore told young green energy advocates Friday that progress on global warming must come from a strong grassroots movement that can counter the oil and coal lobbies, which he alleged have “paralyzed” governments.

Gore – who compared action on global warming to the Civil Rights movement – was the keynote speaker at Power Shift 2011, a Washington, D.C. conference attended largely by college students.

If global warming legislation is akin to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, what’s Al trying to tell us? That even his father wouldn’t have voted for Cap & Trade?

After meandering into his usual examples that “prove” anthropomorphic global warming, such as the floods and droughts that never existed until the past few decades (Noah and those who lived through the dust bowl unavailable for comment), Gore finally got to what this is all about:

He called combating climate change in the country’s economic interest, comparing unchecked emissions to the sub-prime mortgage bubble that proved so damaging.

“We have got trillions of dollars of sub-prime carbon assets whose value depends on the assumption that it is perfectly all right to put these 90 million tons of pollution into the atmosphere every 24 hours,” Gore said.

Translation: Come on, sheep — every second we waste implementing our global warming policy is a million fewer dollars in my bank account!

After the speech in DC, Gore then presumably drove his Chevy Volt back to his little eco hut in California.

Related update: The UN scrubbed their “50 million global warming refugees” prediction from their website, presumably because they were freaked out by how incredibly accurate they were. The science remains settled though.

What do you suppose is the carbon footprint of just the study of global warming? The study of anthropogenic global warming just has to be one of the leading causes of anthropogenic global warming, yet the industry is continually given a pass things like this:

WASHINGTON (AP) — A rocket carrying an Earth-observation satellite plummeted into the Pacific Ocean after a failed launch attempt Friday, the second-straight blow to NASA’s weakened environmental monitoring program.

The Taurus XL rocket carrying NASA’s Glory satellite lifted off early Friday morning from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, but fell to the sea several minutes later. The same thing happened to another climate-monitoring satellite two years ago with the same type of rocket.

Before too long you’ll be able to walk across the Pacific all the way from Al Gore’s seaside California mansion to Japan without getting wet by only stepping on global warming satellite and rocket wreckage — which will require purchasing carbon credits from Al Gore to offset of course so things like this don’t lead to an environmental disaster.
