Hero worship

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 12, 2009 09:32 AM

I’ve been seeing a lemming-like increase in hand-wringing articles about the need for a GOP “hero.”
The latest comes from McCain/Bush flack Nicolle Wallace in “The Daily Beast” — Tina Brown’s liberal salon sprinkled with acceptable, non-conservative Beltway Republicans who swallow false premises whole.
Wallace parrots the line that the Republican Party needs an “effective communicator” who [...]

The most self-absorbed night in Washington (since the inaugural)

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 11, 2009 06:43 AM

I spent a blissful Mother’s Day weekend unplugged and away from the news. So if you’re looking for outrage, faux outrage, and extended commentary on all the narcissism and nastiness at the White House Correspondents Dinner, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
In a nutshell: Liberal comedian Wanda Sykes indulged in Palin-bashing, Rush Derangement Syndrome, and [...]

Battered Hedge Fund Managers’ Syndrome

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 8, 2009 09:32 AM

My column today looks at the abusive relationship between Barack Obama and the hedge fund industry. He keeps taking their money. They keep getting publicly tongue-lashed. Looks like the cycle has ended. Last week, non-TARP lenders objected to the UAW-pandering Chrysler deal. This week, AQR Capital Management LLC hedge fund manager Cliff Asness — at [...]

Obama’s budget-cutting tools

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 7, 2009 11:28 AM

Barack Obama announced that he will snip a whopping one-half of one percent of the $3.4 trillion budget. Knock me over with a feather.
Which best symbolizes Obama’s budget-cutting tools?

2) Spork:

Flip-flop: White House to release “a photo” of Scare Force One flyover

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 6, 2009 03:02 PM

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs stated at today’s press briefing that the Obama administration has reversed itself and will release “a photo” of the Scare Force One flyover.
Still does not satisfy even a minimum level of public disclosure. And no way in hell I’m withdrawing my FOIA requests.
More: Gibbs says its “review” of the [...]

Obama’s transparency policy: Don’t let the sunshine in

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 6, 2009 08:38 AM

My column today follows up on the taxpayer-subsidized photos of the Scare Force One flyover that the White House doesn’t want us to see. Look how the administration responded to press questions yesterday:
At the daily press briefing, a reporter asked Mr. Gibbs why the White House had not authorized release of the photographs.
“I’ve watched CNN. [...]

Dear tech execs, you reap what you sow

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 5, 2009 11:36 AM

Yesterday, I noted that Silicon Valley expressed its displeasure with President Obama’s plans to require corporations to pay billions of dollars in U.S. taxes on foreign earnings that they have previously been allowed to defer.
Today, there’s more whining from the tech companies that boosted Obama’s campaign and filled his coffers.
Calll the wahmbulance (hat tip – [...]

Another snort-inducer: Obama to crack down on tax cheats

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 4, 2009 11:47 AM

Treasury Department tax cheat Tim Geithner already announced this knee-slapper initiative in March. The White House follows up today with the details of the crackdown on corporate tax cheats:
President Obama on Monday spelled out his plans to close corporate tax loopholes on U.S. multinational corporations and crack down on overseas tax havens.
The goal is to [...]

Chrysler and coercion

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 4, 2009 09:46 AM

Over the weekend, news broke about the Obama administration’s reported threats against an investment firm that opposed its union-friendly Chrysler bankruptcy plan.
Tom Lauria represents a few of the non-TARP Chrysler creditors. He reported the threats on WJR radio host Frank Beckmann’s radio show in Detroit:

Zero Hedge summarizes and surmises:
In an interview of momentous importance, [...]

SWAGGA time: Obama’s 100 day toast to himself

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 29, 2009 07:57 PM

Open thread for all of you intrepid rightwing extremists with strong enough stomachs to endure President Obama’s 100-day television extravaganza this evening.
I will be drinking SWAGGA juice and waving my tea bag at the television set.

Do you have the SWAGGA?

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 29, 2009 06:24 PM

You know, I thought that slavering piece about Barack Obama’s “hipness” was rock-bottom.
I was wrong.
In case you ever have a need for an emergency emetic ASAP, just watch this CNN “report” on Barack Obama’s “SWAGGA:”

What’s wrong with the official apology for the Manhattan fly-by?

By Doug Powers  •  April 29, 2009 04:07 PM

The “official apology” on the White House website would appear to have a mistake in it:

Somebody needs to tell the White House to stop referring to the flight that buzzed Manhattan as “Air Force One.” The plane only gets that call sign when it’s carrying the president. Or… was it?

A Flickr of Hope

By Doug Powers  •  April 29, 2009 11:07 AM

The White House has an official photo page at Flickr.
Why am I guessing that the “open comments” feature will soon be disabled?
While we’re at it, since the White House Flickr page is a “caption this photo” rich environment, we should be able to get a little fun out of this picture of Obama and Biden [...]

100 Days of the Poser Presidency

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 29, 2009 05:13 AM

(Photoshop credit: Nice Deb)
My syndicated column commemorates Barack Obama’s 100 days with the Scare Force One story as a take-off point. Imagine if this fiasco had happened under George Bush’s watch. It would have made the Left’s incessant carping over the “fake plastic turkey,” Mission Accomplished banner, and My Pet Goat incidents look like [...]

Ron Sims, liar

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 28, 2009 05:25 PM

I wrote two weeks ago about transparency killer, Ron Sims, who has been tapped by Barack Obama for the No. 2 position at HUD and said that I hoped “someone on the committee is talking to the folks who have fought the real Ron Sims in his own backyard.” Last week, blogger Stefan Sharkansky [...]

Obama’s Notre Dame commencement robe: Will there be another ‘cover-up’ at the highest level?

Anybody up for another game of “One of these things is not like the other”?

Heckuva job, Louie and Barry!

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 28, 2009 10:15 AM

What a way to cap off 100 days in office, huh?

Using military resources for a cheap photo-op. Scaring the pants off the public. Exploiting 9/11 imagery for self-aggrandizement. Keeping secrets and causing mass panic.
Um, can you imagine if a GOP administration did this?
Can you imagine?!
Here is what President Obama said about Louis Caldera, the [...]

Another black mark for HUD nominee Ron Sims

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 24, 2009 05:36 PM

I wrote two weeks ago about transparency killer Ron Sim, the King County WA bureaucrat nominated to the no. 2 spot at HUD by supposed transparency savior Barack Obama. Those in his backyard who know him best know the lengths Sims has gone to in order to obstruct public disclosure and stop taxpayers from [...]

Another left-wing journalist bailed out by Obama

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 21, 2009 09:16 AM

I can’t even keep count anymore, can you? Meet the newest left-wing journalist rescued from the ailing newspaper industry by the Obama administration: former LA Times columnist Rosa Brooks. She’s the daughter of liberal writer Barbara Ehrenreich and an acolyte of George Soros. And she’s working in the…Pentagon. Not a joke.
