Did Dick Durbin video to YKos violate Senate ethics rules?

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 6, 2007 02:42 PM

Earlier today, bloggers Reverse Spin and Backyard Conservative called attention to Democrat Dick Durbin’s video to the nutroots YearlyKos convention, which used an official Senate seal. The Senate Ethics Manual explicitly forbids the use of the Senate seal for campaign use. The video had been posted on the DailyKos website since Saturday.

What’s Dick Durbin up to?

Piecemeal shamnesty: Dems are trying to sneak the DREAM Act into a House defense bill.

Another outbreak of Democrat anti-troop hatred

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 6, 2006 07:27 PM

I wrote last week that we’d see more outbreaks of anti-military vandalism leading up to Election Day. In upstate New York on Halloween eve, “(expletive) Bush” and a depiction of a penis were scrawled on the 20-by-40-foot flag and similar pictures in the same shade of green were painted on the American Legion Mohawk Post.
Now [...]

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 20, 2006 11:20 AM

The anti-Alito brigade makes one last stand.
Teddy Kennedy led the charge last night with a speech to the Center for American Progress.

Transcript:
KENNEDY: In another area of controversy, his views on issues of particular concern to women should give every woman pause, from his role in striking down the key [...]

DICK DURBIN SMACKDOWN

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 15, 2005 10:33 AM

Check this out. Law professor Jonathan Turley, one of the most personable and mild-mannered people I’ve met in Washington, lays the smack down on Sen. Dick Durbin in the Washington Times this morning. Hard.

Hugh Hewitt believes Turley. Betsy Newmark wonders why the rest of the MSM isn’t paying attention:
You would think that the rest of [...]

DICK DURBIN’S TINFOIL HAT

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 6, 2005 11:21 AM

Apology, schmapology. Sen. Dick Durbin is still blaming the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy for his ills. Illinois-based Marathon Pundit reports that Durbin is telling local press there that it’s all dastardly Bob Novak’s fault!
Does Reynolds Wrap have an endorsement deal with the Democrat Party or what?

DURBIN WATCH: AUTOPSY REPORTS

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 23, 2005 10:36 AM

The Chicago Tribune’s Jill Zuckman pokes at the entrails.
Hugh Hewitt analyzes The Durbin Effect:
The willingness to slander the servicemen and women responsible for the custody and interrogation of the detainees at Gitmo and around the globe did not begin with Durbin and it will not end with Pelosi.
True that. Kevin at MediaSlander has the latest [...]

DURBIN WATCH: IN THE NY TIMES COCOON

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 22, 2005 08:21 AM

Hawk-eyed blogger Tom Maguire notices two important omissions in the New York Times’ coverage of the Dick Durbin “apology.”

DURBIN WATCH: THE TEARS OF A CLOWN

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 21, 2005 10:28 PM

Was away from the computer/TV this evening, assembling this Weber grill and breaking in a new Hi-5 CD with the kids. So, I just watched the Durbin non-apology apology (video and transcript available at The Political Teen) and caught up on the news stories (here, here, and here).
Looks like the Console George folks are going [...]

DURBIN WATCH: DALEY SAYS APOLOGIZE

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 21, 2005 02:37 PM

Add Chicago Mayor Richard Daley to the list of those who think Senator Dick Durbin should apologize for his comments comparing Gitmo interrogators to Nazis. Associated Press reports:
Daley says Durbin — a fellow Democrat — is a good friend. But he says it’s wrong to evoke comparisons to the horrors of the Holocaust or the [...]

David Limbaugh says don’t let him off the hook.

DURBIN WATCH: THE DRUBBING CONTINUES

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 20, 2005 01:45 PM

You already know how I feel about Mark Steyn. His latest instant classic column on the Gitmo-bashers is hanging on the home office wall. A few highlights if you haven’t already read it:
Nobody complained at Auschwitz that the guards were playing the 78s of The Merry Widow (the Fuhrer’s favorite operetta) with the volume knob [...]

DURBIN WATCH: CHENEY AND MORE

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 17, 2005 03:27 PM

Just received this e-mail from Steve Gill:
Vice President Dick Cheney appeared this morning on Steve Gill Mornings in Nashville, Tennessee and was asked about Dick Durbin’s comparison of U.S. troops at Guantanamo Bay to Nazis. The Vice President noted that he had to
be “careful about what I say since this is a family show” but [...]

DURBIN WATCH: MSM REAX

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 17, 2005 10:42 AM

The Chicago Tribune fawns over Durbin’s “passion.” The paper’s editorial page says “Ignore him.”
The Boston Herald editorializes: “Durbin must go.”
Investor’s Business Daily: He “made Howard Dean look sane.”
The Wash Times: “Durbin’s degrading drivel.”
The New York Times editorial page: Nothing.

GITMO VS. COOK COUNTY JAIL

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 17, 2005 10:23 AM

John in North Carolina tips us off to rampant prison abuse in Dick Durbin’s backyard. Captain Ed notes Durbin’s odd silence.
Update: Don Singleton quips…
I would urge that Gitmo be closed down and that all of the prisoners be transferred to the Cook County Jail, except I suspect it really would be against Geneva Conventions.

THE TREACHEROUS DICK DURBIN

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 16, 2005 11:24 PM

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Camp Delta) refuses to apologize for his unhinged remarks likening American interrogators and Gitmo military staff to Nazis, Soviet gulag operators and genocidal maniac Pol Pot. (Radioblogger has the audio; Trey Jackson’s got video.)
Earlier today, as you know, White House spokesman Scott McClellan castigated Durbin.
What America needs is for President Bush himself [...]

HITLER, HITLER, EVERYWHERE

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 15, 2005 03:21 PM

Reuters’ photo editors can’t help themselves (via Drudge).
And neither can Rep. Dick Durbin (via Laura Ingraham). (More here and here and at LGF.)
Meanwhile, the unrepentant Charlie Rangel (Iraq war=Holocaust) is accusing the ADL of racism against blacks.
Looks like Jeff at Beautiful Atrocities is going to have to update his mile-long “Everyone will be Hitler” list.

MORE DEMOCRATIC ASSASSINATION HUMOR

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 20, 2005 10:58 AM

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) spoke at the dedication of the new Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, along with President Bush and others. Sen. Durbin mentioned that the new president of Ukraine recently spoke of a government “of the people, for the people,” or, as Durbin put it, “The words of the Gettysburg address still echoing across [...]
