Today a Senate bill will be introduced that would pay for the construction of a charging station for electric cars on the Senate side of Capitol Hill.

John Kerry fully supports members of Congress leading by example:

“We’re stuck in this crazy period where congressmen boast about bringing back plastic forks to the House cafeteria because they’re against recycling and composting,” Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) said in a statement. “That’s nuts. Instead, we should be taking steps like this so Washington leads by example. The clean energy innovation we need right now will shape our global competitiveness, so let’s do the small and big things that are needed to lead.”

Hopefully the Capitol Hill charging station is large enough to accommodate Mr. and Mrs. Lead-By-Example’s Gulfstream V and 42 foot “Scaramouche” that gets less than a mile per gallon.

So the Dems are pretty sure about this Obama thing, it looks like.

But I’m thinking I’ve heard this song before.

Flip-flopping anti-war Ivy-league snob with a lovable (not) wife, who wants to appease Iran (or does he now?), and who has tight, deep connections to the anti-American radicals sixties and seventies?

It’s enough to make a blogger take Windows Movie Maker in hand, and start slamming together a little footage. Turn it up:

They say the next big thing is here…
_______________________________
Post by See-Dubya. The song is by Shirley Bassey, who did the early Bond title songs, backed/mixed by the British techno band the Propellerheads. Good beat, good conservative message, and if you like it you can buy the whole track from Amazon for eighty-nine cents here.

I got help and ideas from several bloggers on this, which was much appreciated. Responsibility for mediocre editing and unreadable newspaper text (after YouTube’s compression) remain strictly my own.

Thanks especially to DPUD, Buckely and Potfry atThe Nose on Your Face, and Ed Driscoll, who does some serious v-blogging/vlogging/ vodcasting/codpasting whatever you call it.

Last month I wrote a column about conspiracy theorists, such as Teresa Heinz Kerry, who believe the 2004 election was rigged. But even TomPaine.com, a liberal web site, says there is no evidence in support of such theories. Russ Baker writes:

Back in January, I wrote a piece for TomPaine.com questioning widely circulated claims that the election in Ohio had been stolen. I had done some poking around, anticipating that at least some of the frightening anecdotes filling our mail boxes and raging on talk radio would be borne out. They weren’t. In spot checks on a few popular fraud anecdotes, I found credible alternative explanations such as incompetence, structural problems, politicization of decision-making and other failings— but no evidence of deliberate fraud designed to hand the election to Bush.

I looked especially closely at the theory that fraud is the only way to explain the large gap between the early exit polls, which showed Kerry doing very well, and the final result giving Ohio’s key electoral votes to Bush. According to this theory, there was no way the actual tally could vary so greatly from the exit polls. The proponents of this view essentially accuse the legendary exit pollster Warren Mitofsky, and a media consortium, the National Election Pool (NEP), of some kind of complicity— or at least willful denial. I found no evidence whatever of either.

For casting doubt on the conspiracy theory, TomPaine.com and I received virtual barrels of e-mail, most from angry anti-Bush activists who could not believe that their hard work had been for naught…..

Privately, I heard from many Democratic officials, election reform advocates and analysts from inside Ohio and elsewhere, who believed my reporting to be accurate, and who were more than a little perturbed by the frenzy, which they found a counterproductive distraction from the serious ongoing effort to reform election practices. Since the debate refuses to die, this seems a good time to trumpet the arrival of not just one, but two, new technical analyses that cast further doubt on the theory regarding exit poll fraud….

(Hat tip: Ankle Biting Pundits.)

And believe it or not, over at DailyKos, a remarkable outbreak of rationality can be seen here, where a poster reports on some heavy-duty statistical analysis of exit polls by Kos contributor Elizabeth Liddle, who debunks academic conspiracists who believe the official vote count was corrupted. Very interesting stuff that you won’t read about in the MSM—mostly because we are so mathematically challenged. If you are a super-geek (I’m married to someone who used to perform regression analyses for a living), you will appreciate Liddle’s meticulous work and insights. See Mickey Kaus for the layman’s interpretation and Mystery Pollster for extended statistical explanations (with graphs! and Monte Carlo simulations!).

My new column looks at increasingly unhinged Democrat leaders, seemingly inspired by Teresa “They hacked the mother machines” Heinz Kerry.

Here’s the story on John Kerry kvetching about “trickery.” James Taranto traced the origins of the “Vote on Wednesday” joke that Kerry complains about to…Al Franken. RedState reports on “Ohio’s not-so-odd numbers.”

Trey Jackson has video highlights of Hillary’s speech in Minnesota.

Here’s my conclusion:

Singing from the same hysteria-promoting hymn book in Minnesota this week, Sen. Hillary Clinton further stoked Democratic madness. Sarcastically praising the elections in Afghanistan and Iraq, Sen. Clinton pounced: “I believe that the right to vote and the obligation to count all the votes should be promoted not just in the Middle East, but in the Middle West! And in the Northeast! And in the Southeast! And in every. Corner. Of. The. United. States. Of. A-MEH-rica!”

The crowd went wild. Sen. Clinton continued: Too many minorities and college students have been “denied an equal right” to vote, she exclaimed. (Her “moderate” solution? An election reform bill that allows illegal aliens! And felons! And people without IDs to vote!)

The Democrats now seem to believe that the road to the White House is paved with paranoia. Well, let them keep babbling about “mother machines” and stolen votes. The evil genius Karl Rove himself couldn’t have come up with a better plan.

Well, Teresa Heinz Kerry’s subdued act didn’t last long did it? By now, you’ve all read Her Highness’s condescending remarks about our First Lady Laura Bush. Teresa’s boneheaded ““apology” was even worse than the initial comments. Teresa managed to snub not only millions of teachers and librarians and Mrs. Bush’s 22 years of work as a mother, but also the hard work and dedication of all stay-at-home parents (moms AND dads).

Unbelievable! Will the Dems claim that this is a Karl Rove Dirty Trick, too?

Classy as ever, the First Lady said there was no need to apologize, that she had not taken offense, and that it isn’t easy on the campaign trail. Throughout this election season, Mrs. Bush has shown nothing but dignity and good humor. She has been mocked as a Stepford Wife by the Left. Her intellect has been derided by the likes of Maureen Dowd and Bill Maher. She has stood by her husband and her country and demonstrated an unparalleled graciousness that the totally unhinged Teresa Heinz Kerry cannot buy and will never have.

I’ve been tough on her and she has been as unhinged and unraveled as I said she would be during most of the campaign. But today she just seemed pitiful. She said she “winced” when her husband joked about marrying up during the last presidential debate. She complained about being “so tired” of traveling and said she brought her girlfriends along on the campaign trail to help her cope with “what I’m going through” (treating the most important election of our lifetime as a personal trauma).

Most revealing, Teresa confessed–were those tears in her eyes–that she has only talked to her husband about “once a week” and only gets to talk to him “for a few seconds.” She could barely muster up enough enthusiasm to make a pitch to undecided voters for her husband–even with helpful coaxing from lib handholders Star Jones and Barbara Walters.

Well, he’s “thoughtful,” Teresa murmured. He knows how to think about “complex” things. (Showing a brief spark of her old self, she couldn’t help noting that he sometimes thinks about things too much. That a girl.) And finally, she pulled out an old line uttered with weary, mock gung-ho spirit: If she were in a foxhole, she’d want to be with John Kerry.

As with all of her campaign appearances, the interview revealed much more about Teresa than it did about the candidate. Who cares about the race? She just wants it to be over and she wants her husband’s attention back. If she and we are lucky, they’ll be together again sipping hot chocolate and getting hot stone massages or whatever in Ketchum for Thanksgiving.

Hang in there, Mrs. Heinz. Two more weeks.

From John Kerry’s convention speech: “What does it mean when twenty five percent of the children in Harlem have asthma because of air pollution?”

Answer: It means Kerry is peddling junk science at the behest of his meddling wife. As science journalist Mike Fumento has noted,

Since 1970, the total national emissions of the six principal pollutants the Environmental Protection Agency tracks have been cut 48 percent, even as energy consumption increased 42 percent and the population increased 38 percent.

[Particulate matter] emissions have only been tracked since 1993, but by 2002 had fallen 17 percent. In terms of air quality, they have only been measured since 1998 but by 2003 had dropped eight percent…even as dirty air levels plummeted, asthma incidence from 1980 to 1999 increased by 83 percent according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The scare-mongering about asthma in Harlem comes straight from Teresa’s playbook. She recently gave environmental activist Peggy Shepard, who has made a name for herself hyping the asthma epidemic, the $250,000 Heinz Award for her “brave voice” and “courageous advocacy” against “environmental racism.”

A hint of Hillaryism to come? Yes, well, she has earned her right to be o-PIN-knee-o-nay-ted.

Update: Greg at Begging to Differ was listening closely and has audio evidence that Kerry was talking about hair pollution, not air pollution. Writes Greg: “Maybe John Edwards should lay off the Aqua Net.” Tee-hee!

Update II: More on the asthma/air pollution lie from Mike Fumento here. And for more on the real culprit that explains asthma increases, see the EPA website and National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences fact sheet, which reports:

Recent studies have found a strong association between the presence of cockroaches and increases in the severity of asthma symptoms in individuals who are sensitive to cockroach allergens.

Best bloggy round-ups. I have limited access to TV tonight.
Weirdest moment of inappropriate laughter: Teresa Heinz Kerry giggling when she delivered this line: “John is a fighter. He earned his medals the old-fashioned way, by putting his life on the line for his country. (Giggle, giggle.) No one will defend this nation more vigorously than he will — and he will always be first in the line of fire.”

Hey, did I call this or what? Flashback, Jan. 28, 2004, Howard Dean in a Dress:

It’s only a matter of time before we witness another Howard Dean Moment in the Democratic presidential race — but not, I predict, from any of the Democratic presidential candidates.
