By Michelle Malkin  •  January 28, 2005 12:21 PM

You know that VW/terrorist spoof ad that went viral last week? VW has decided to sue the satirists, whoever they are: Company spokesman Hartwig von Sass said VW lodged a criminal complaint with prosecutors in Brunswick, Germany, but did not specify a perpetrator. “This is an attack on Volkswagen’s good name,” he said of the [...]

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 26, 2005 02:52 PM

The deadly Glendale train derailment is one of today’s top stories. Randy Townley asks: Are we now seeing the new face of terrorism? Not in this specific case, but it’s certainly a concern in the wake of Madrid’s 3/11. Josh Lefkowitz and Lorenzo Vidino had an important article in The National Interest on train terror [...]

ACRONYM OF THE DAY: VBIEDS

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 16, 2005 02:52 PM

Apropos of the Time report on possible limousine bomb terror at the inaugural, there’s a good backgrounder from Global Security.org on Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDS). Wonder how that’s pronounced? VEE-bides? Vee-buy-eds? Vuh-BEADS? Anyway, here’s a handy BATF explosive standards chart on VBIEDS: The Time article says an al Qaeda document on VBIEDS attacks [...]

TERRORIST ATTACKS ON ELECTION DAY?

By Michelle Malkin  •  October 20, 2004 07:54 AM

Orin Kerr, engaging in “amateurish speculation,” raises the scary prospect of Al Qaeda attacks on voting locations on Nov. 2: I think the more likely Al Qaeda move would be to try to destabilize the U.S. political system. A weakened United States government might mean a government less likely to pressure Iran, more likely to [...]

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 23, 2004 12:29 PM

Bob Felton at Civil Commotion takes USA Today to task for a mealy-mouthed headline: USA Today notes a growing problem: Disturbing trend shows that terrorists see no limits on their violence As it happens, that headline appears in only the print edition, on page A-2; it is not in the online version of the story. [...]

VIVA ITALIA

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 25, 2004 08:45 AM

Unlike the Philippines, Italy is apparently standing firm against terrorists who have kidnapped an Italian journalist: The Italian government said Tuesday it would maintain its 3,000 troops in Iraq despite an ultimatum from a radical Muslim group holding an Italian journalist and demanding that Rome withdraw its forces within 48 hours. A statement from Prime [...]

The FBI is warning that terrorists are targeting military recruiters, according to the Associated Press. DIVESTING FROM TERROR

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 16, 2004 09:57 AM

There’s a new movement, modeled on the South Africa divestment campaign, to put pressure on public companies that do business with terrorist-sponsoring states: Throughout our history, Americans have risen to the challenge of defending our beloved country and our liberty. Following the 9/11 attacks, however, most Americans felt powerless. Powerless to respond to the tragic [...]

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 3, 2004 05:17 PM

Jeff Quinton is on top of the latest anti-terrorism raid around London. 13 arrests so far of individuals “on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.” Update: Citizen Smash has the latest and also offers these cogent thoughts and a challenge: COUNTER-TERRORISM is a very serious business. We [...]

“NOT NEW” DOES NOT EQUAL “NO THREAT”

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 2, 2004 09:48 PM

So, the big Drudge headline of the night reveals that the New York Times is running with this story: QAIDA DOCUMENTS YEARS OLD, BUT OFFICIALS SEE A REAL THREAT Much of the information that led authorities to raise the terror alert at several large financial institutions in the NY and D.C. areas was 3 or [...]

CIVIL LIBERTIES CHICKEN LITTLE WATCH

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 17, 2004 05:46 PM

Get out your hankies. The civil liberties alarmists are bawling and the sky is falling because… …they can’t take photos of sensitive areas without scary men in uniforms asking them for ID! …they can’t sell their crappy records to pro-American Americans! …they can’t break immigration laws in California without someone trying to enforce the law [...]

BLOWING A SECURITY MOM’S COVER

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 12, 2004 11:50 AM

I’m adding the fearless Shannen Rossmiller to my list of Moms Who Rock–but with some reservations, which I’ll get to in a sec. The Houston Chronicle profiles Rossmiller today, going into great detail about how she works by day as a judge, at by night as a terrorist hunter: By day, she’s the municipal judge [...]

OLYMPIC INSECURITY

By Michelle Malkin  •  July 7, 2004 12:20 AM

According to this report, the State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service will be providing special security for American athletes competing in the Summer Olympics in Greece next month. Let’s hope the State Department can keep bozos such as the one I reported on last May from penetrating its security forces.

Our friends the Libyans

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 10, 2004 12:36 PM

Check out these disturbing stories from the New York Times and Wall Street Journal today on the continuing menace of Moammar Gadhafi. It appears Gadhafi was personally involved in organizing an alleged terrorist plot against the Saudi crown prince. This is a mighty mess, what with shady American Muslim (and Saudi-subsidized!) activist Abdurahman Alamoudi in [...]
