Stephen Tyrone Johns: Guard, father, hero

By Michelle Malkin  •  June 11, 2009 06:37 AM

Here is more on Holocaust Museum security guard Stephen Tyrone Johns, the gentle giant who was murdered by the racist whackjob yesterday. Via the Washington Post:
“A soft-spoken, gentle giant,” said Milton Talley, a former employee of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, where Johns was killed yesterday in the line of duty — shot, authorities said, [...]

On the road again

By Michelle Malkin  •  May 12, 2009 08:16 AM

Heading home soon after a lovely time at Wellesley. The College Republican women there are steel magnolias. Bright, beautiful, charming, fiercely conservative, and fearless. Thanks to the CRs and YAF for sponsoring the event.
Fun fact: Conservative professors do exist at Wellesley. Real ones. Really!

Atlantis Liftoff Still On Schedule

By Doug Powers  •  May 11, 2009 12:02 PM

Here’s a thread for my fellow space geeks. The shuttle Atlantis is still on schedule for a 2 p.m. ET liftoff, beginning its mission to repair the Hubble telescope. You can watch the launch prep and the launch itself here.
There’s so much debris up there now that a stand-by shuttle is also on the launch [...]

MSNBC vs. local weatherman

By Doug Powers  •  April 27, 2009 11:06 PM

Bill Steffen is the Chief Meteorologist for WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Living 30 miles or so east of Grand Rapids, I see Bill’s forecasts on occasion — most often at this time of year, when severe spring weather is rolling through.
But Steffen, an over 30-year meteorology veteran, has made some fine contributions to his [...]

Both michellemalkin.com and hotair.com were down this morning. Not sure what the cause was, but our tech team has us both back up and running again.
Thank you for your patience.
Now, let’s get back to the “rightwing extremist Internet chatter,” shall we?

Blessed Easter, a thank-you note, and a plug

As the US Navy in on scene working to resolve one pirate/hostage standoff, another has apparently developed:
NAIROBI, April 11 (Reuters) - Pirates seized a U.S.-owned and Italian-flagged tugboat with 16 crew on Saturday in the latest hijacking in the busy Gulf of Aden waterway, a regional maritime group said.
Andrew Mwangura, of the Mombasa-based East African [...]

No new trial for Death Row cop-killer Mumia abu Jamal

By Michelle Malkin  •  April 6, 2009 01:27 PM

The good news: SCOTUS ruled today that left-wing poster boy/convicted Death Row cop-killer Mumia abu Jamal will not get a new trial:
Mumia Abu-Jamal has lost his bid for a new trial in the killing of a Philadelphia police officer in 1981.
The Supreme Court said Monday it will not take up Abu-Jamal’s claims that prosecutors improperly [...]

Another crappy Obama nomination

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 5, 2009 12:19 PM

I was going to ask whether Barack Obama’s vetters had taken a vacation.
But that would presume that they ever actually showed up for work.
The latest nightmare Obama nomination? Charles Freeman, the White House pick “to serve as chairman of the group that prepares the U.S. intelligence community’s most sensitive assessments, according to three congressional aides.” [...]
