Congressman Jim Moran is an old white Democrat from Virginia who thinks he can judge whether we minority conservatives are acting sufficiently non-white enough. Moran’s an inveterate bully, a brawler, a crook and a bigot. And not one of his civility-preaching liberal colleagues has the courage to call him out.

Responding on cable news to GOP Rep. Allen West’s blunt criticisms of President Obama this week, Moran derided the retired U.S. Army colonel, who is black, as “not representative of the African-American community.” Moran then launched into the kind of tired race-traitor tirade I’ve heard from progressives of pallor for more than 20 years.

How dare we “people of color” stray from the left’s ideological plantation? If we choose personal responsibility over entitlement, capitalism over statism or self-determination over identity politics, presumptuous white liberals appoint themselves spokespeople for our forefathers and deciders of our true destinies.

To wit: Lt. Col. West “just seems clueless now that he has climbed aboard ship,” Moran fumed. “He’s climbed this ladder of opportunity that was constructed by so many of his ancestors’ sweat, sacrifice, blood, you know, they did everything they could for his generation to be successful. But now that he’s climbed on board ship, instead of reaching down and steadying the ladder, he wants to push it off.”

West, his father, his mother and his brother all dedicated their lives to military service; four consecutive generations of his family served in the U.S. armed forces. As a freshman congressman, West’s message has been a compelling agenda of self-empowerment. For this, he is savaged by a House colleague as a racial saboteur?

But Moran was just warming up. Next, he contrasted conservative West with big-government savior Barack Obama, who he said acted in proper accordance with his ancestors “by reducing college tuition and training our workers, trying to get a decent job for everybody” and leaving a “constructive legacy.”

Er, how’s the savior’s near double-digit unemployment, record food stamp enrollment, re-inflation of the housing and higher-education bubbles, and massive redistribution of wealth from the working class to the Wall Street bundler class working out for you?

Moran hailed Obama as “our Lion King” and compared his Republican detractors to the “hyenas in the background trying to cause trouble” for the White House. This bumbling chief of political correctness apparently is unaware that those hyenas in the Disney movie have been criticized for perpetuating negative stereotypes about blacks and Hispanics. Dog-whistle politics, anyone?

Do Moran’s constituents in Virginia’s 8th district support his incessant race-baiting? Last year, he accused Tea Party activists of racism for sweeping out entrenched Democrats in the November 2010 midterm elections. It “happened for the same reason the Civil War happened in the United States. It happened because the Southern states, the slaveholding states, didn’t want to see a president who was opposed to slavery,” he ranted to Arabic-language television network Alhurra. “(A) lot of people in the United States don’t want to be governed by an African-American, particularly one who is liberal, who wants to spend money and who wants to reach out to include everyone in our society.”

Yet, only two short years before, this hopelessly racist nation put Obama in the Oval Office with a landslide victory. Logic never was the demagogue’s strong suit.

The aptly named Moran, an 11-term incumbent, continues to be rewarded by voters for his extravagant spending habits, self-dealing and diarrhea of the mouth. As I’ve reported previously:

– While on the Alexandria (Va.) City Council, he was charged with casting a vote that helped a developer friend win a bid for a lucrative plot of public land. A special prosecutor concluded that Moran had violated the state’s conflict-of-interest law. He sobbed as he pleaded no contest to a felony charge of vote-peddling. He received a year’s probation for a reduced conflict-of-interest misdemeanor charge and was forced to resign.

– In 1995, he had to be subdued by Capitol Hill police when he threw a punch at California Republican Rep. Randy Cunningham on the House floor. After the incident, Moran blamed “talk radio” for creating a hostile environment in Washington. That same year, he screamed “I’ll break your nose” at Indiana Republican Rep. Dan Burton during a hearing.

– In 2002, Moran revealed in financial disclosure statements that he accepted a $50,000 loan in January 2001 from an “old friend,” billionaire America Online co-founder James Kimsey. The congressman claims to have paid the business mogul back at 15 percent interest over three months, and his spokesman emphasized the loan came with no accompanying quid pro quo.

– Kimsey’s gift came on the heels of Moran’s disclosure that he had received another Big Business-tied loan: $25,000 from “old friend” Terry Lierman, a drug industry lobbyist representing Schering-Plough. After getting that unsecured loan at a lower-than-market interest rate, Moran co-sponsored a bill that would extend the patent on Schering-Plough’s allergy medicine Claritin — and prevent generic drug manufacturers from offering inexpensive alternatives.

Liberal busybodies are an annoyance. Liberal race-card abusers who lambaste patriotic minority conservatives to cover their own dirty deeds make my brown skin crawl.

As readers have noted, this person’s name and business have also been identified with a similar hate mail message sent to Mary Katherine Ham.

Will the hard left sentence her to three months at HW & Bubba’s Institute for Civil Discourse for extensive “new civility” re-education, or have a parade in her honor? That was just a rhetorical question, by the way.

Madison — A 26-year-old woman was charged Thursday with two felony counts and two misdemeanor counts accusing her of making email threats against Wisconsin lawmakers during the height of the battle over Gov. Scott Walker’s budget-repair bill.

Katherine R. Windels of Cross Plains was named in a criminal complaint filed in Dane County Circuit Court.

According to the criminal complaint, Windels sent an email threat to state Sen. Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay) on March 9, the day the Senate passed a measure to sharply curtail collective bargaining for public workers. Later that evening, she sent another email to 15 Republican legislators, including Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau), the complaint says.

The subject of the second email was: “Atten.: Death Threat!!!! Bomb!!!” In that email, she purportedly wrote, “Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your families will also be killed due to your actions in the last 8 weeks.”

“I hope you have a good time in hell,” she allegedly wrote in the lengthy email that listed scenarios in which the legislators and their families would die, including bombings and by “putting a nice little bullet in your head.”

According to the complaint, Windels told investigators, “I sent out emails that I was disgusted and very upset by what they were doing.” Asked if she intended to follow through, Windels said, “No,” according to the complaint.

CNN:

According to the complaint, investigators read Windels excerpts from the e-mails, and she replied, “I know I said that, but I don’t know why I said that.”

Windels allegedly told police that she did not intend to follow through on any of her statements.

More importantly, the parents of children at the school might want to know that someone unstable (and stupid) enough to send terrorist death threats to politicians from her home computer is being entrusted with the students.

Here’s a big surprise — it looks like the Democrat D.A. has been dragging his heels like Fred Flintstone trying to stop his car on Filbert Street when it comes to pursuing the matter. I’m only guessing that if this had been a Tea Party member she’d have been in custody by last weekend, but not in this case:

Windels is not in custody. The D.A.’s office says she won’t be arrested.

Arrested? At worst she might be whisked away for a few weeks in the Fleebagger wing of the Heritage Inn & Suites in Illinois. If she’s found guilty her punishment will be no MSNBC for 24 hours.

Big Government posted a letter from the Wisconsin Department of Justice concerning the amount of time the situation has been gathering dust on the D.A.’s desk. Here’s part of it (“DCI” is the Department of Criminal Investigation):

Investigators concluded it did not present an imminent threat but presented sufficient probable cause that criminal behavior had occurred and on Friday, March 18, 2011 this matter was referred to the Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne who has sole jurisdiction and charging authority for a charging decision.

On Monday, March 23, 2011 the Department of Justice learned through press reports that the Dane County District Attorney had returned the referral to the Department citing clerical and administrative issues related to the reports transfer. Importantly the investigative reports themselves were not returned. It is important to note that this Department routinely refers investigative reports to District Attorneys, including the Dane County District Attorney, for their review and charging decisions.

This is where this matter currently sits.

We are concerned about the lack of action regarding this referral.

Concerned, maybe, but there’s no way they’re surprised.

As BG points out, yes, this is the same District Attorney who’s busy battling Republicans to stall implementation of Wisconsin’s new government union collective bargaining law, so he’s obviously a little too preoccupied to pursue somebody who sent a few little death threats.

After reading this story I waited for a tsunami of reminders from the left that we’re supposed to be in the age of the “new tone” and this kind of language has no place in modern-day political dialogue, but I haven’t yet heard a single one:

MADISON – The State Department of Justice confirms that it is investigating several death threats against a number of lawmakers in response to the legislature’s move to strip employees of many collective bargaining rights.

Among the threats the Justice Department is investigationg is one that was emailed to Republican Senators Wednesday night. Newsradio 620 WTMJ has obtained that email.

The following is the unedited email:

Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your familes will also be killed due to your actions in the last 8 weeks. Please explain to them that this is because if we get rid of you and your families then it will save the rights of 300,000 people and also be able to close the deficit that you have created. I hope you have a good time in hell. Read below for more information on possible scenarios in which you will die.

It goes on.

Will HW & Bubba’s Institute for Civil Discourse have a “Wisconsin” wing? Doubtful.

Update: Meanwhile, oddly enough, President Obama delivered an anti-bullying lecture.

One of those booing, according to several witnesses, was Fuller. Witnesses sitting near Fuller told KGUN9 News that Fuller was making them feel very uncomfortable.

The event wrapped up a short time later. Deputies then escorted Fuller from the room. As he was being led off, Fuller shouted loudly to the room at large. Several witnesses said that what they thought they heard him shout was, “You’re all whores!”

According to the story, Fuller was charged with one count of threats and intimidation and at least one count of disorderly conduct.

Will Fuller be the recipient of an angry phone call from President Obama for not following his “tone down the rhetoric” advice?

The Associated Press had the most accurate post-Tucson speech prediction: Any pause in harsh rhetoric may be short lived.

Somehow this too will all be Sarah Palin’s fault.

Remember this case? Flashback:

In late August 2009, as lawmakers faced citizen revolts at health care town halls nationwide, the Colorado Democratic Party decried a vandalism attack at its Denver headquarters. A hammer-wielding thug smashed 11 windows and caused $11,000 in property damage. The perpetrator, Maurice Schwenkler, turned out to be a far Left nutball/transgender activist/single-payer anarchist who had worked for a SEIU-tied 527 group and canvassed for a Democrat candidate. Nevertheless, State Democrat Party chair Pat Waak continued to blame “people opposed to health care” for the attack.

I was reminded of this far Left hoax incident — unjustly blamed on the Tea Party — when I read today about what really happened at Democrat Rep. Russ Carnahan’s office in Missouri.

Last Tuesday August 17, 2010, Rep. Russ Carnahan’s office was reportedly vandalized and “firebombed” at 2 AM in the morning. Hours later police arrested a suspect for the crime and held him for several hours.

Of course, when the “firebombing” was reported local leftists blamed the tea party activists.

Then things got really weird. The police released the suspect and the Carnahan camp went silent. Carnahan employees were seen dumping documents into a dumpster but refused to to talk to reporters. There was a complete blackout on information.

Now we know why.

The suspect was reportedly a disgruntled progressive activist employed by Russ Carnahan. An unnamed source familiar with the case released the information. Suspect Chris Powers reportedly was upset because he did not get paid so he firebombed the Carnahan finance offices at 2 in the morning…

Here’s what one of the lefty newspapers said last week in insinuating that a conservative was responsible:

Police aren’t releasing the man’s name until charges are officially filed. No motive was given for the attack, though one could suspect that the perpetrator is not a fan of the congressman. Given what we know of him — 50, white, angry — he certainly fits the demographics of a Tea Party member.

Perhaps, he joined his fellow “patriots” earlier this year when they burned Carnahan’s photo in effigy or placed a coffin on the sidewalk outside his home.

Dana Loesch blasts the smear merchants who rushed to judgment:

Did the Carnahan camp know this possible truth and consent by silence to the media’s attempt to trump this up as a tea party incident? If this is true, doesn’t this make the fourth incident in which people associated with the Carnahan campaign have run afoul of the law and have engaged in illegal behavior? Why didn’t the Russ Carnahan campaign correct the narrative of the local alternative weekly and Jake Wagman’s subtle suggestion that it was a tea partier? Because he’s in the campaign of his life and is desperate for anything, even the sympathy vote?

The alternative weekly’s heinously irresponsible “blogger” – who once admitted, in print, his inability to vet his posts because he lacked the skills to write ten posts a day and be accurate – and the daily’s Jake Wagman need to issue retractions and clarifications, respectively, and the Russ Carnahan campaign needs to issue an apology for allowing this charade to be pinned on the very people whom he seeks to represent.

Alas, as I’ve noted before, being a Tea Party-bashing liberal means never having to say you’re sorry for smearing conservative dissent.

Today’s challenge in which we’ll write the MSNBC headline is for the below video of Todd and Sarah Palin, who were badgered for quite some time last week at the Valdez Airport in Alaska by a creepy guy who was videotaping them from the parking lot all the way to the terminal.

Two of those students, who were charged with trespassing during an anti-Israel protest at Michigan Democrat Sen. Carl Levin’s office in the incident last year, have now been implicated in an appalling assault on Levin today, via the Detroit Free Press:

U.S. Sen. Carl Levin got an apple pie – no whipped cream or ice cream on top either – in the face this morning during a question-and-answer session for the Mecosta County Democrats at a Big Rapids deli after being criticized by a young man for his stance on foreign policy and defense of Israel.

Witnesses at Pepper’s Café and Deli said as the Detroit Democrat who chairs the Senate Armed Services Committee asked the audience to let the man have his say, a young woman circled behind him and squashed a pie into the 76-year-old Levin’s face.

…Big Rapids police said the woman, 22-year-old Ahlam Mohsen of Coldwater was arrested not far from the deli and charged with assault and disorderly conduct. It was not immediately clear this afternoon if she was still being held.

Nico Rubello, a reporter for the Big Rapids Pioneer, said Levin stuck around and answered more questions after the incident. His newspaper reported that the man who asked the question was Max Kantar, 23, of Big Rapids. It also quoted Mohsen as saying, “We wanted to target Levin today to send a message that liberals and Democrats are just as implicated in the violence (of war) as the Republicans.”

Pathetic. Levin issued a statement noting that these punks only hurt themselves — a point I’ve made for years after repeated physical assaults by the Left on conservative speakers and public figures.

But don’t look for any hysterical columns from Krugman or Rich on the “insane rage” of campus Israel-haters any time soon.

Flashback: Tomato Man: Another addition to the Unhinged mugshot collection

Peace, love, rainbows, unicorns…and property destruction. Via the Seattle Times (hat tip: reader Jack A.):

A couple in Shoreline have been targeted in a campaign that involves destroying signs supporting Republican candidates, and replacing them with signs for RepublicansAreADisease.com.

The website, which is an anonymous wordpress blog, encourages it’s readers to print out signs reading, “Republicans Are A Disease” and “Republicans America’s Worst Enemy” and place them on their own and public property, and to “tell their neighbors how they feel about the criminals in the GOP.”

The couple that was targeted has replaced its signs, but the “wife is scared to death.”

The RepublicansAreADisease.com founder, who denies any malicious intentions, brags about having a sign in his/her van that reads: “Hang Rove.”

I live in Seattle. I had a sign in the back of my car that read “Republicans America’s Worst Enemy”. Just to let you know I got 20 smiles and thumbs up for every shaking head, and finger! I want to let everyone know exactly how I feel about today’s Republicon Party when I drive around. I now have a “Republicans Are A Disease” sign in my back window. When I get a little too upset, I print up some of these signs, take my ladder, and staple them up high on telephone poles in my neighborhood. If there are any Republicons around, I want my signs in their face. I am mad, and I won’t take their attacks sitting down any more. I am tired of being called names by the likes of Rush Limpbat, and his sickening right wing, ignorant ditto head friends. I love my country, and I am not afraid to let my neighbors know I think the Republican Party is America’s greatest enemy, and must be driven from power. Help me, and your country. Given how regularly conservative authors are tomato-ed, salad dressing-ed, pied and physically intimidated at speaking events, what’s shocking is not the Code Pinkos’ behavior or the silence of the liberal civility police, but the utter lack of preparation and security by the organizers of the Rove event as demonstrated in the CBS 2 video. As Dave Bryan reported:

KCAL 9′s Dave Bryan was there and said Rove “was shouted down and forced to leave the stage.”

Another woman screamed at Rove, “The only comfort I take is that…you’re going to rot in hell.”

Rove, meanwhile, charged that the people shouting him down were an example of the “totalitarianism of the left…they don’t believe in dialog…they don’t believe in courtesy. They don’t believe in first Amendment rights for anyone but themselves.”

There were several heated exchanges between Rove and his critics before he decided he had enough and he left the stage.

He called one detractor a “lunatic.” He told several others repeatedly to “get the heck out of here.”

Bryan reported that security was apparently lacking and Rove was “left to fend for himself.”

What the hell? Rove is not being served well.

Today, a two-count complaint and warrant was filed charging Norman Leboon with threatening to kill United States Congressman Eric Cantor and his family, and threatening to kill Congressman Eric Cantor, who is an official of the United States, announced United States Attorney Michael L. Levy and FBI Special Agent in Charge Jan Fedarcyk. As set forth in the affidavit to the complaint and warrant, in or about late March, 2010, Leboon created and then transmitted a YouTube video to Google over the internet, in which he threatened to kill Congressman Cantor and his family. No harm came to the Congressman or his family as a result of Leboon’s threats.

“The Department of Justice takes threats against government officials seriously, especially threats to kill or injure others,” said Levy. “Whether the reason for the threat is personal or political, threats are not protected by the First Amendment and are crimes.”

LeBoon is a 33-year-old Philadelphia resident, according to the USA press release.

The press release continues:

If convicted of all the charges, the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 15 years imprisonment, 3 years supervised release, a fine up to $500,000, and a $200 special assessment. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Philadelphia Police Department, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert K. Reed.

A search for “Norman LeBoon” on YouTube yields some bizarro stuff — including this channel where a Norman LeBoon claims to be a Shia Muslim who is the 12th imam and this video where other Muslims angry at LeBoon refute his Mahdi claim.

It appears that this Norman LeBoon and the LeBoon referenced in the charging papers are one and the same. The affidavit (reprinted below) notes that LeBoon has admitted to making more than 2,000 videos with threats.

The press release was accompanied by the following FBI affidavit:

AFFIDAVIT I, David E Carter, being duly sworn, deposes and states the following:

1. I am employed as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where I have been employed as a special agent since January of 2005. Prior to that, I was employed as a Maryland State Trooper from July 2000 until January 2005. I am presently assigned to the FBI’s Philadelphia Division’s Violent Crimes Task Force, which investigates kidnapings, Hobbs Act violations, such as armed robberies of commercial businesses and armored carriers, bank robberies, assaults of federal officers, convicted felons in possession of firearms, and fugitives.

2. I submit this affidavit in support of an application for a complaint and warrant to arrest NORMAN LEBOON (date of birth January 22, 1972) for the following violations:
(a) threatening to kill United States Congressman Eric Cantor and his family, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 875(c), which states:
“Whoever transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication containing any threat to kidnap any person or any threat to injure the person of another, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both”; and
(b) threatening to kill Congressman Eric Cantor, who is an official of the United States, in violation of Title 18, United States Code Section
115(a)(1)(B), which reads in pertinent part: (a)(1) Whoever-

(B) threatens to assault, kidnap, or murder, a United States official1, .
Congressman Cantor is an official of the United States within the Legislative Branch of the federal government, as set forth in Title 18, United States Code, Section 1114, which states:
. ., or an official whose killing would be a crime under such section, with intent to impede, intimidate, or interfere with such official, . . . while engaged in the performance of official duties, or with intent to retaliate against such official, . . .on account of the performance of official duties, shall be punished as provided in subsection (b).

3. This affidavit is based evidence obtained in the course of joint federal and state investigation into the activities of NORMAN LEBOON during the week of March 22, 2010, including, but not limited to, my personal knowledge, my review of documents, knowledge obtained from other law enforcement officials, and communications with others who have personal knowledge of the events and circumstances described below. This affidavit does not set forth each and every fact learned by me or other agents during the course of this investigation.

4. On March 26, 2010, the FBI, San Francisco Division, received a copy of a video that had been removed from the internet website YouTube. The video included images of a white male, later identified as NORMAN LEBOON, making threats against United States Congressman Eric Cantor, 7th Congressional District – Virginia. The video appeared to be homemade and was of good quality. The face of the white male can clearly be seen.

6. On March 27, 2010, an Emergency Disclosure Request was completed and faxed to Google Inc, the owner of YouTube. The request was for Google to provide the IP address(es) used by the user who posted the YouTube video described in paragraph 5, above. Google provided the IP address – 74.109.58.150 – that was used at various times by the user between March 24, 2010 4:48 p.m. PT and March 26, 2010 04:58 a.m. PT.

7. Subsequently, the IP address 74.109.58.150 was subsequently provided to Verizon Internet Services. Upon being served with an “Emergency Situation Disclosure Request By Law Enforcement” form, Verizon provided the subscriber information for the user assigned IP address 74.109.58.150 between March 24, 2010, 4:48 p.m. PT, and March 26, 2010, 04:58 a.m. PT. According to Verizon’s records, the subscriber to the IP address, at the specified time was: John Hopkins, 1653 Benner Street, Philadelphia, PA 19149.

8. Using a law enforcement database, an address check was conducted on 1653 Brenner Street, Philadelphia, PA, which revealed that there was a local active bench warrant for a NORMAN LEBOON (DOB 01/22/1972.) The warrant had been issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Court of Common Pleas charging LEBOON with Terroristic Threats with intent to terrorize another, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person. A recent arrest photograph of LEBOON (taken on 07/14/2009) was obtained. The arrest photo of LEBOON was compared to the male in the YouTube video described in paragraph 5, above, who made the threat against Congressman Cantor. After comparing the faces, I immediately recognized and concluded that LEBOON was the male speaking and making the threats in the YouTube video.

9. On March 27, 2010:
(a) Law enforcement officials went to 1653 Benner Street in Philadelphia, where LEBOON was arrested. LEBOON was transported to the FBI office, located at 600 Arch Street in Philadelphia, where he was read his Miranda warnings.

LEBOON waived his rights and agreed to make a statement.
(b) LEBOON stated that he had created the above-described video approximately three days before and submitted it to YouTube via the internet for posting. LEBOON created the video at his residence using the video camera on his cellular telephone. LEBOON then used his home computer to upload the video to YouTube. LEBOON stated he had made over 2,000 videos in which he made threats.
(c) LEBOON further stated that he is the “son of the god of Enoch” and that his father speaks through him. LEBOON stated that Eric Cantor is “pure evil”; will be dead; and that Cantor’s family is suffering because of his father’s wrath.

10. Based on the foregoing, including NORMAN LEBOON’s admissions that he created the YouTube videotape threatening Congressman Cantor, his actions uploading the threatening videotape to his computer, then his decision to transmit that videotape through the internet to Google in an effort to post and publish the videotape, the threat was transmitted in interstate commerce.
WHEREFORE, based upon these facts, there is probable cause to support the issuance a complaint and warrant charging NORMAN LEBOON with threatening to kill Congressman Eric Cantor on or about March 26, 2010, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1115(a)(1)(B) and 875(c).

I talked about Democrat Rep. Pete Stark Raving Mad on Hannity last night — giving a quick review of his infamous outburts and indiscretion, which have been long-chronicled on this blog. The water-carriers at Media Matters took the usual manufactured umbrage at any mention of basket case Stark’s unseemly brush with the House Ethics Committee.

But the Soros-bots conveniently omit the facts of the matter and the conflict between the pushovers on the House Ethics Committee and the more independent Office of Congressional Ethics, as reported by left-leaning Talking Points Memo:

Tension between two Congressional ethics bodies boiled over today in connection to an investigation of a California congressman.

The House Ethics committee announced that it had voted unanimously to dismiss a probe into whether Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) improperly took advantage of a tax break for Maryland homeowners.

But in its report on the case (posted below), the panel used unusually harsh language to slam the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE), which had itself voted unanimously to recommend that the Ethics committee — officially known as the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct — continue the probe, and had found that Stark likely violated the law.

The Ethics committee, which is chaired by Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), charged that OCE “conducted an inadequate review, the result of which was to subject Representative Stark to unfounded criminal allegations.” [Late Update: See below for OCE's response]

OCE’s own report — which was included as an appendix to the Ethics committee report — found that Stark misrepresented information to the state of Maryland in applying for a tax break, worth thousands, on a waterfront home. In order to qualify for the tax break, homeowners must use the home address for voting and obtaining a drivers license, according to state law. Stark told the state that he voted in Maryland, but in fact votes in California and has a California drivers license. OCE also found that Stark had misled OCE investigators during an interview on the matter.

But the Ethics committee’s report puts the thrust of those findings into question. It concludes that Stark received no benefit from his mistake, because he corrected the error before Maryland ever adjudicated his application for a tax credit.

“The evidence clearly establishes that Representative Stark did not receive a tax credit as a result of filing for the credit,” the committee writes. “The evidence also establishes that he did not file a false application for the Maryland property tax credit.”

OCE was created as a quasi-independent ethics body in the wake of the Abramoff scandal, to address concerns that the Ethics committee was not pursuing investigations of House members with sufficient aggressiveness.

In any case, Stark Raving Mad has now been thrown under the bus. After one day on the job replacing corruptocrat Charlie Rangel as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Stark is handing over the gavel to Democrat Rep. Sander Levin:

Rep. Sander Levin (D-Mich.) will take the chairmanship of the Ways and Means Committee and Rep. Pete Stark (D-Calif.) will step aside, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told the Democratic Caucus on Thursday morning, sources in attendance said.

Stark, the No. 2 Democrat on the panel, has been serving as acting chairman since Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) surrendered the gavel Wednesday. Pelosi explained the switch to Democrats on Thursday by saying Stark preferred to keep the reins of the panel’s Subcommittee on Health. But it became clear after hours of meetings by Democrats on the panel Wednesday that Stark — who has a history of off-color remarks and ethics issues of his own — lacked support for moving into the chairmanship.

Aides familiar with the panel’s huddles Wednesday said Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Chris Van Hollen (Md.) and House Democratic Caucus Vice Chairman Xavier Becerra (Calif.), both Ways and Means members, made the case to Stark that he would be an inviting target for Republicans and a distraction for politically endangered Democrats if he assumed control.

What took them so long?

Colleen Raezler of the Culture and Media Institute rings in Women’s History Month with the Top 10 Most Disgusting Attacks on Conservative Women over the past year:

March is Women’s History Month, in which we acknowledge the accomplishments and contributions of women in history and in society today.

But for a select group of women – conservative women – their accomplishments and contributions are rarely celebrated but often demeaned and mocked in sexist – and crassly sexual – ways.

The Culture & Media Insitute looked back at what the media had to say over the past year about some of today’s most prominent conservative women, including Michelle Malkin, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Sarah Palin and Liz Cheney, and compiled a list of the 10 worst attacks on these women who dare to speak out in favor of conservative values.

Much of the criticism was the worst sort of misogyny with a dose of violence and disgusting adolescent sex references thrown in for good measure. The media outlets in question ranged from Playboy magazine to MSNBC to Sirius XM radio and included comments from both men and women.

The message that rang through loud and clear was that perspectives from conservative women were not appreciated or welcomed, and if a woman stepped out of line, she deserved whatever treatment she received.

You won’t be surprised to learn that half of the ten involve…yours truly!

The woman was out of control. Law enforcement officers knew it. Her family knew it. Academia must have known it. How many more incidents like this will be disclosed before we stop the charade of plausible deniability? And how did she continue to get pass after pass? Who vouched for her? Who will take responsibility?

Amy Bishop was charged with assault in 2002 IHOP dispute

In March, 2002, Bishop walked into an International House of Pancakes in Peabody with her family, asked for a booster seat for one of her children, and learned the last seat had gone to another mother.

Bishop, according to a police report, strode over to the other woman, demanded the seat and launched into a profanity-laced rant.

When the woman would not give the seat up, Bishop punched her in the head, all the while yelling “I am Dr. Amy Bishop.”

Professor Had Raised Concerns About Accused Shooter’s Mental Health

Her colleagues agree that she could be unusual. William Setzer, chairman of the chemistry department, recalls that she would interrupt meetings with bizarre tangents, “left field kind of stuff.” Robert O. Lawton, a biology professor who was in the room during the shooting but escaped unscathed, also thought she could be strange, but said she wasn’t the strangest academic he’d run across in his long career.

Another professor, however, has long been wary of Ms. Bishop. He asked The Chronicle not to use his name because, considering recent events, he is worried about his own safety. The professor, who was a member of Ms. Bishop’s tenure-review committee, said he first became concerned about Ms. Bishop’s mental health “about five minutes after I met her.”

The professor said that during a meeting of the tenure-review committee, he expressed his opinion that Ms. Bishop was “crazy.” Word of what he said made it back to Ms. Bishop. In September, after her tenure denial, she filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, alleging gender discrimination. The professor’s remark was going to be used as possible evidence in that case.

Students said they signed a petition and complained to no avail about the classroom conduct of an Alabama professor accused of killing three colleagues and wounding three others in a shooting rampage at a faculty meeting.

The students upset with biology professor Amy Bishop told The Associated Press they went to University of Alabama in Huntsville administrators at least three times a year ago, complaining that she was ineffective in the classroom and had odd, unsettling ways.

The students said Bishop never made eye contact during conversations, taught by reading out of a textbook and made frequent references to Harvard University, her beloved alma mater.

“We could tell something was off, that she was not like other teachers,” said nursing student Caitlin Phillips.
