Gannett reports that the Real ID Act probably will become law: A controversial bill that would require states to verify the citizenship or legal status of anyone applying for a drivers license will likely become law because Senate Democrats don't have the votes to stop it, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said Monday. In addition to making it harder for illegal aliens to obtain driver's licenses, the Act will tighten up lax asylum rules and waive local environmental laws to allow the construction of a 14-mile a fence along the border near San Diego. Congratulations, Rep. Sensenbrenner! |
