More ICE Princesses . . . But Citizens’ Hands Are Still Tied, For Now

[Original posting in the Juan Mann Archive on VDARE.com]

Following in the footsteps of former Immigration and Naturalization Service Commissioner Doris Meissner, Julie L. Myers, the newly-appointed Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) probably has more women in top management positions at her side in the federal immigration bureaucracy than ever before.

But with all this highly-paid female brainpower in the new ICE management team—like Julie’s assistants Marcy (Investigations), Traci (Professional Responsibility) and Cynthia (Intelligence)—maybe someone would finally tell the public exactly how and where to report illegal aliens and criminal alien residents?

Still not one lousy press release on the subject . . . ever!

In the continuing saga of reporting aliens, the frequently-asked questions link on VDARE.com is still probably the best how-to source for filing your own ICE report in a non-border area.

Please post this information on your refrigerator for easy access:

  • TO REPORT AN ILLEGAL ALIEN OR CRIMINAL ALIEN RESIDENT contact the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) division of the Department of Homeland Security by calling (866) DHS-2ICE to "report suspicious activity" (866) 347-2423.

  • You can also make a report with the DHS/ICE Investigations division in a city near you through the telephone numbers listed on the ICE web site— http://www.ice.gov/graphics/investigations/contact.htm -- for Special Agent-in-Charge (SAC) Offices, and their subordinate field offices called Resident Agent-in-Charge (RAC) and Resident Agent Offices (RAOs).

Again, PLEASE DON'T E-MAIL VDARE.COM WITH SPECIFIC REPORTS!!

We get these emails every day. Americans are desperate. But we have no special powers over these matters.

Other than calling a nearby U.S. Border Patrol station—if you’re so fortunate as to have one close by—ringing up the DHS/ICE is the only other way, folks.

Needless to say, calling ICE to "report suspicious activity" at (866) 347-2423 provides no guarantee that anything is going to be done with the information. Maybe ICE might sit up and take notice if citizens started calling in with Most Wanted [PDF] criminal alien sightings instead?

Or maybe there’s some sort of ICE policy that if the alien reported isn’t on the Most Wanted list, it goes straight into the "circular file?" Who knows?

And who cares? Reporting aliens means the bureaucrats have to start a file. Which means a paper chain implicating them exists on the day that a President is inaugurated who intends to uphold the law. That will eventually make inaction less appealing.

Of course, the evidence of inaction is outrageous.

[I've been reading a bit too much of The Mogambo Guru archives on 321gold.com lately and offer this fictionalized Richard Daughty-esque rant in homage.]

Behind the scenes at the VDARE.COM virtual headquarters, I chain-smoke my way through the afternoon watching Humphrey Bogart end up murdered in a ditch by Mexican banditos for the umpteenth time in a Treasure of the Sierra Madre rerun on the VDARE.COM employee lounge’s crappy black-and-white TV.

Wondering why he hasn’t seen or heard from me in a week, the Capo di Tutti Capi himself, Peter Brimelow, discovers me in my sloth, and suggests a story idea. He tells me that energetic VDARE.COM reader Roger Chaillet—winner of the hard-fought 2003 War Against Christmas Competition – just sent him an e-mail about a British pederast actually agreeing to be deported during the course of removal proceedings in EOIR Immigration Court.

Figuring that none of the other VDARE.COM staffers could care less about ever again hearing anything about the Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review – the dreaded EOIR – much less even bother reading my weekly (ever-increasing in conspiratorial ferocity and outright shrillness) rants on the subject . . . not to mention reading and forwarding my Absolutely Definitive Essay to all the charlatans, crooks and phonies serving in lieu of their elected representatives (unless they happen to live in the sixth Congressional district of Colorado, of course)…Brimelow passed the EOIR-related e-mail along to me.

But this is not about how Congress just keeps going on with the same old ridiculous psychotic bloated-government formal hearing procedure to deport every single illegal alien and criminal alien resident in the United States with their own private hearing in front of a Department of Justice lawyer in a robe. . . expecting that illegal immigration and the massive foreign crime wave on our shores will be "solved" by sending every single removal order generated by this worthless system to an automatic appeal before another set of bureaucrats at the EOIR’s Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) in Falls Church, Virginia, and then on to yet another automatic appellate review before the Circuit Courts of Appeal all over the country, and then back and forth among the tree-sloth-infested Byzantine taxpayer-money-squandering courts over and over again until the alien finally somehow adjusts status in the United States and winds up with a "green card" anyhow.

No, it’s certainly not!

The border issue is secondarily economic, primarily about security:

Mexican criminal syndicates are stepping up their attacks on American agents patrolling the border as officials of the Homeland Security Department intensify efforts to stem the flow of immigrants and drugs into the United States, American officials said this week.

In recent months, scores of Border Patrol agents have been fired upon or pelted with large stones as well as with cloth-covered stones that have been doused with flammable liquid and set ablaze. Since October, agents have been attacked in more than 190 cases, officials said on Thursday.

Most of the attacks have occurred along the Mexican border near San Diego, but shootings have also been reported along the border in Texas near the cities of Laredo and McAllen. In the fiscal year that ended on Sept. 30, there were 778 attacks on agents, up from 374 in the previous fiscal year, Homeland Security Department officials said.

Read the rest. Someone should really sit down and write a book about all this.

The most vocal opponents of any and all immigration law enforcement are not at all ashamed of viewing the immigration scofflaw problem explicitly in racial terms.

Consider the January 30 news bulletin from La Voz de Aztlan – Immigration Crisis: Preparations for the Mexicano/Latino Leadership Summit being finalized – in which "Summit facilitator” Professor Armando Navarro was quoted as saying:

“. . . the challenge facing all of us as Mexicanos and Latinos, especially our organizations, leaders, politicians, and activists is to set aside whatever differences we may have with each other and unite under the banner of solidarity in defense of our people, especially migrants, in order to defeat the Sensenbrenner legislation [H.R. 4437] and realize major immigration reform.”

Mexican racial consciousness alert! Jared Taylor, call your office!

I’m not surprised. Professor Navarro sounds a lot like some of my hate e-mailers.

As the proprietor of Deportaliens.com, the negative e-mails I receive generally fall into the same two categories: 1) shock over any immigration law enforcement; 2) outright Mexican racism/separatism.

Most hate letters say either

  • how could you be so mean as to want to have anyone deported from the United States;

or

  • We Mexicans will get you for this!
