Poll: Most grandmas don’t think Paul Ryan’s trying to push them off a cliff

“Extreme Ryan Makeover” not working

Romney/Ryan opponents have tried and tried to turn Paul Ryan into Hal from Happy Gilmore, but it’s not moving the needle very much against R & R. If anything it could be having the opposite effect.

From the Washington Post:

A new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows 41 percent of Americans view the new GOP vice presidential nominee favorably, while 37 percent rate him unfavorably — slightly improved from last week’s polling.

Among seniors, though, the numbers are even better for Ryan: 50 percent favorable and 35 percent unfavorable. Fully one-third of seniors say they have a strongly favorable view of the Wisconsin congressman, while one-quarter have a strongly unfavorable view.

The numbers suggest Democrats’ attempts to turn Ryan’s Medicare proposal against the GOP haven’t stuck yet among the most pivotal group: seniors. If a Medicare attack was working, after all, seniors would likely be the first group to start deserting Ryan.

Here are the numbers in handy pie form:

Somewhere on a commercial set where the spot “Throw Grandma From the Cliff III” is being filmed, the following conversation is taking place between a panicked director and his assistant:

“Ok, new poll is in. Listen up people, they’re not buying it yet… we’re going to want to make that cliff much higher… this time add a big ‘splat’ sound when fake granny hits the rocks below. And where’s the scream on the way down I asked for?”

“It can be added in post, boss. Anything else?”

“At the end pan down to granny and have an elephant with an ‘R’ on its side come by and stomp on her.”

“Symbolism, boss?”

Duh! Get on it! If after this every swing state senior doesn’t think November 6th might be their last day on earth you’re all fired!”*****
